1 Year Later

Barry and Caitlin were both sat down on a bench, having just spoken to both of their families, being at the university's graduations event. They had both succeeded in what they were studying, after all the chaos of the event now spending some quality time together, cuddled up on a bench which was fairly out of the way from the crowds of people wandering around the campus.

"Congratulations again, Cait," Barry smiled, looking into her eyes as he said it.

"Thank you, you too," she replied, giving him a quick kiss, both of them not wanted to get too carried away, attempting to keep a low profile.

"I actually have something planned for us later, I'm presuming that you are free?"

"Of course I am," she replied smiling.

Over the past year, Caitlin had permanently moved into Barry's apartment, as well as a few conversations about getting a new house together after they graduated. They had been together the whole time, no major problems blocking their love whatsoever. Both were as happy as they had ever been before in their lives, the past year had been perfect for the couple.

After everything in the school started to wrap up, and everyone started to leave, the pair stood up together, linking hands, heading out of the University campus and down the road they knew so well, heading towards Barry's apartment.

As they entered, they did their usual procedure of removing their shoes, throwing their bags on the floor, as Barry went to make the pair drinks, Caitlin moving over to the living room, sitting down.

"Here you go,"

"Thank you," Caitlin replied, as the pair cuddled up to one another on the sofa, as the did every day, enjoying the feeling of the other resting against them.

"So, what was that plan you had for us today?" Caitlin asked curiously, a glow in her eyes, smiling.

"You will just have to wait and see," he smiled back, squeezing her hand as he did so.

"But I want to knowww..." Caitlin moaned, however still sounding happy as she did so.

"Not too much longer," Barry teased, resting his head on top of hers.

They stayed in this position for about half an hour, and in this time the sun had moved below the horizon, as the clear skies started to show.

"Hey, I'm going to go and get ready, you may want to change out of your uniform," Barry said, with a look on his face as if to say 'you will like this'. Barry moved into the bedroom to get changed, Caitlin taking the bathroom as they both got ready to leave.

Barry emerged wearing a dark blue suit, complete with a black tie. He didn't have to wait long for Caitlin to come out of the bathroom, as usual, taking his breath away at the sight of her, wearing a beautiful red dress, with an open back.

"Wow," Barry said, the only word he could come to say, causing Caitlin to blush as she walked over to him, taking him by the hand as they headed out of the apartment and down the stairs, before heading out onto the fairly quiet streets as they started to walk.

"Can you please tell me where we are going?" Caitlin pleaded, still keeping the adorable tone in her voice as she said it.

"Nope, in fact, we are only about a minute away now," he said with a smile, squeezing Caitlin's hand.

It wasn't long after that they arrived at the observatory, the same one that she had taken Barry to around a year ago.

He looked to his right to see Caitlin's face light up, causing him to smile. As they entered the building, Barry paid for the tickets, as they walked through the building and outside into the large field area.

The skies were extremely clear, even more so than the year before. The moon was a waxing crescent, allowing for the stars to be much more visible, not being blocked out by the light of the moon.

"It's beautiful," Caitlin muttered, holding on to Barry's arm, more or less hugging it at this point.

Barry turned to face her, smiling, as he leant in and kissed her, lasting a minute or so. As they pulled apart, both were blushing, smiling.

"You see that star there? The one just above us? That is Polaris, also known as the North Star. It's the brightest star in the sky, said to represent everlasting love. This is also one of the only times of year it is visible here."

"Wow, Barry, that's so..."

She was silenced by a kiss, causing her to blush again, her cheeks now a shade of bright pink.

"Caitlin, I have something that I want to do.

Over the past year, you have made me such a happy person. I don't want to ramble on, I just want to get the main premise said. Before I met you, I was lost, and quite frankly I have no idea where I would be today without you. Most likely nowhere good. You have changed my life, Caitlin, you were the first person to show me that I can be better, I can think more of myself. You have made be incredibly happy, Cait."

Caitlin was blushing even more now, a smile on her face making her look adorable, as well as even more beautiful, being stood there on the hill, stars shining down on them.

Barry slowly crouched down onto one knee, taking a small box out of his pocket.

"Caitlin Snow, will you marry me?"

There was a brief moment of silence, Caitlin moving her hands to clasp over her face, concealing her giant blush, a few tears of joy forming and crawling down her face. She never expected something this big to happen in her life, let alone right now. This was quite possibly the happiest she had ever felt in her life.

"Yes, yes I will," she said with a large smile, sounding extremely excited about the whole thing.

Barry slid the ring, which was silver coated, with a small diamond embedded on the top of it, onto her finger, causing her to blush even more.

The newly engaged couple then lay down on the grass, staring up at the stars hand in hand, smiling to each other, every now and then turning their heads to share a kiss.

They had been lucky enough to meet one another, and now were happier than ever together, nothing could split them apart, nothing could make it any better now.

It was already perfect.
