He tied a suicide knot around his neck and began climbing a ten foot tree. Halfway he slipped and almost fell but a branch held his shirt and dangled in midair. He wiped his sweaty hands on his shorts and continued climbing. Soon he was on top of the tree, he searched for the firmest branch and tied the end of the rope to it.
"Something is wrong." Miriam said after hours silence in the carriage. They had rode on for days without any rest and they were only a few miles away from the Einvor border.
"Whatever do you mean?" Albrecht asked.
"I am not sure, but stop this carriage!" She yelled and jumped out. She began looking around in the trees. She had heard someone's thoughts of suicide and she wanted to prevent him from killing himself
"What are you looking for?" Albrecht jumped out after her.
"Look in that tree, what do you see?"
"There's a boy up there." He started running towards the tree. "Hey! Come down we can help you!"
"Stop he can't hear you, he is asleep." She run after him soon everyone was out of the carriage.
"Asleep?" He stopped halfway to the tree.
"Yes, it is a spell, I can feel it from down here. He's going to jump we have to do something."
"Okay, when he jumps, I'll cut the rope and you'll stop him in mid-air. Can you do that?" Albrecht stretched his hand back and his staff came flying to him.
"I'll try." She sounded unsure.
"I need you to be sure."
"I am sure."
The boy on top of the tree jumped as he fell Albrecht run forward and swung his staff in the air which cut the rope and some of the branches on the tree.
"Duratus!" She screamed, stretched out her index and middle fingers pointed towards the boy like a gun and he froze in midair. She gently let him down and they all moved toward him. When they got there he was sleeping soundly.
"How is this even possible?" Albrecht asked clearly astonished. Aloysia and Sir Evans all rushed to their side
"He tried to commit suicide in his sleep?" Lady Aloysia asked.
"Obviously." Albrecht smirked at her.
"How is that even possible?" She asked again.
"That was what I asked." He chuckled and smirked.
"Hey, kid, wake up." Miriam tapped him gently. He opened his eyes and rubbed it.
"Where....where am I?"
"In the woods." She said sarcastically.
"Okay, and how did I get here?"
"That's what I was hoping to know from you."
"The last I remember I was going to bed in my house."
"Okay, can you take us to your house?"
"No, I don't know you. I am sorry but I can't take strangers to my home."
"But we just..." Albrecht was about to protest when Miriam covered his mouth.
"It's okay you can go home." She said and smiled at him. "That boy has a very troubled life, I think if we go with him we'll give him more trouble."
"I have a feeling that he's not the only one who has this suicide problem." Albrecht said the moment the boy left.
"Yes and he won't lead us to his home so we have to follow him."
