We sit in absolute silence as they start to doze off. I rest my head on his chest, listening to his steady heartbeat.
I never thought it would be him. Everything seemed so planned out already. But I'm glad the moon goddess made this mistake.

¥¥¥ Kacey's POV
We're shopping for our first party!
Well, Sara and I's first party. Jack has gone with Spencer to quite a few while Sara and I had our 'girls nights'.
"Where are we looking first, Kacey? I think I want a domme vibe," Sara said, being the freak that I love.
"How about Hot Topic?"
She snapped her fingers. "You read my mind."
Although we claim to have outgrown the store, we actually do go on quite a few occasions. We've just evolved from purchasing anime backpacks to buying the sexy stuff, you know? But you will never see me in one of those maid outfits.
Spencer grabbed Jack's shoulder and roughly moved him back in forth with excitement, making Jack panic.
"What? You know I can't stand your strong man excitement!"
"While they're doing that, let's head to the video game store! Then we can all meet in the food court in an hour."
Spencer was never that big on shopping and Jack has enough party outfits to last him years, so it's no surprise that they wanted to look at video games instead. On quite a few nights, Spencer has woken me up with the sound of violence and I had no choice but to stay up and watch him play. It was always tough getting back to sleep.
We agreed to Spencer's plan and went our separate ways. Luckily, Hot Topic wasn't too far.
Sara sighed as we enter the dark store. "We're back, Hot Topic. Hold your applause," she muttered, slightly disappointed.
I chuckled as we walked to the back of the store, where the hot stuff was.
I gasped when I spotted a cute black skirt hanging next to a skimpy black crop top that showed a decent amount of cleavage.
It was a beautiful pairing made just for me.
But wait. Something's missing.
"Oh my goodness. Kacey, this would look so good on you!"
I turned my head to see what she was talking about and saw her holding a cropped, black denim jacket...
Found it.
I snatched them up and immediately didn't feel the need to look any further.
"Yay! My turn!" Sara exclaimed before searching for her own moment. Never have I found an outfit so quickly. I guess my heart is anxious for some food.
After a few minutes, she spotted a black corset with a slightly ruffled skirt attached. It was over when she saw a pair of Doc Martens to go with it.
"I think I might love this outfit more than Spencer."
"As you should!"
We paid.
We felt so good after we paid. We have earned a cinnamon pretzel.
We giddily skipped out of the dark store and I felt my phone buzzing in my pocket. Pulling it out, I noticed that it was my sister calling so I picked up.
"What's up?" I asked upon answering.
"I found my mate! I'm dying! Oh my stars!"
Oh my stars!
"When? I have so many questions! What does he look like? Does he get good grades? Is he nice? Does he-!"
"Kacey, he's so much! He's so many good things! He's all of the good things! I can't breathe! He's everything except my age!"
My excitement teleported to a lower state.
Hell no.
What kind of 40 year old creep has found a mate in my sister?! I know they can't control it, but I'll be damned if they see each other until she's grown!
"Nope! Do not touch that old ass man! I forbid it!"
Sara finally looked at me with confusion once she noticed my tone change.
"No, Kacey! He's 18!"
18? That's it?
"Oh! Why the hell wouldn't you lead with that?" Um..." I tried thinking of what I could say to ease her worries. Hmm... found it! "Dude, mom and dad can't say no, can they? He's your mate and they know you've been waiting for this your whole life. Besides it's only wrong if y'all are 4 years apart and if you aren't mates. 2 years ain't shit," I informed her with a hopeful smile even though she couldn't see me.
She was silent for a minute before sighing gleefully. "You're right! I arranged for him to come over tomorrow afternoon for lunch to meet mom and dad. Can you be there?"
"Sure, we'll all come."
"...all?" I could practically hear the smirk on her face through the phone. "Including... your mate?"
Shit.
"He doesn't really like crowds..."
"Oh? But he's a soon-to-be alpha. Doesn't he give reports in front of his pack every month with his father?"
How dare she call me out like that?
"I-"
"If he's how you described him, mom and dad will love him. I refuse to bring my mate if you don't bring yours."
I cannot believe the shift in this conversation. "So it's like that, huh?"
"Yeah, it's like that," she replied, sounding like the gangster that she is.
Is this really a good idea?
"Do it for sister," Kira said. She sometimes get really caveman-y when she's serious.
I was filled with uncertainty, but agreed anyway.
"Thank you so much, Kacey. I have to go. Love youuu!" She hung up. My phone rang again and I picked it up without checking the ID.
"Where are you guys?" Ew. It's Spencer. "Why didn't Sara answer?" His voice boomed through my phone.
"Her phone died," I responded as Sara spent her quarters on all of the candy machines. "Are we meeting already? I thought we had an hour."
"Yeah, the guy kicked me out because I almost broke one of their games. That retro Mario Kart pissed me off. You wanna eat early?"
I know all about his video game rage. Since I'm always the one awake when he's playing them, I'm the one that has to calm him down.
