Kacey's POVAfter all that Oreo drama was over we decided to go for our run.
I might 'accidentally' go into the Blood Moon Pack.
What? I haven't ran in a while so I don't know the path...
...will be my excuse.
"The grass is kinda wet so be careful not to slip, Sara." Spencer warns.
I give him a thumbs up and wrap my arm around Jack. "We'll try to be careful, too, big boss."
He scoffs sarcastically. "Congrats! Wish I cared."
Jack gasps. "Fuck you!"
Spencer laughs and gives Jack a noogie. "How far are we going?"
"Uh," I begin. "We have school tomorrow so probably up to, like, 1 o'clock in the morning. Jack and I have math first period and we would love to miss it."
Spencer shrugs while taking off his shirt. "I don't mind missing science."
Sara adds, "I have shop class and I'd rather do anything than stare at everyone's deformed cuckoo clocks." She shivers at the thought of it.
I take her hand in mine. "Let's change behind that tree." She nods and walks with me. Jack goes to another tree.
"I'll change here."
I stop in my tracks. "In the open Spencer? What if someone sees you?"
He smirks and shrugs. "Then I'll say 'you're welcome'."
"Spencer I swear if you don't move your ass behind a tree-" Sara threatens.
"Fine fine! I'll move."
"Yes! I feel like I haven't been out in years!"
I giggle at my wolf's excitement as I undress.
Once Sara and I are both in only our undergarments, we make eye contact.
"You ready for one of the biggest rushes of your life?" She asks.
Shifting after a while is better than drugs. The intense pleasure and bliss you feel is so strong because your wolf's excitement to finally be free.
"Hell yeah."
Sara and I step far enough from eachother for our wolves to breath...
...and then the shift begins.
My feet are lifted off of the ground as they morph into paws. My body stretches out and my fangs elongate.
When I land on the ground again, I find myself deep inside my own consciousness.
"Oh God, it's been ages!" Kira shouts in a loud call to the world.
My wolf is light gray, soft, thick and-not to brag- completely and utterly intoxicating to look at.
Sara and Jack's are both brown and Spencer's is pitch black.
"Race you to the lake?" I ask them through mind link.
"You're on!" They say back.
Then we're off.
Sara is in front with Spencer right behind, most likely to keep an eye on her. Jack and I are behind them.
Somehow me being behind doesn't even bother me. The wind blowing through my fur is enough for me to forget about the rest of the world.
As I'm running, I look at Spencer's wolf in front of me. The dark shade of black looks so beautiful in the moonlight. I can't stop myself from watching it flow as his soft paws repeatedly hit the ground. My attention is only on him until I begin to slip.
My body slides on the grass in every which direction until I finally feel a sharp pain in my paw.
All I could feel was pure pain as my body crashed and I fell face first on the ground, causing Jack to stop behind me.
The second my face hit the ground, Spencer's two front legs were lifted in the air as though something was choking him.
He turns to look back at me and rushes back when he sees.
My face somehow feels fine but my paw hurts like hell.
I'm whimpering loudly as the pain consumes me even more.
"Don't shift, Kacey. It'll only make it worse." He instructs through mindlink.
Wolves heal faster while they're shifted than they do when they aren't. Although most of their injuries 'disappear', when they're human they still feel it for a little while longer.
I mindlink him,
"It hurts!"
I'm whimpering so loud the entire forest can probably hear me.
"Fuck!" Spencer exclaims inside my head. He kneels beside me. "Put her on my back."
Sara stayed in wolf form and Jack risked the entire forest seeing him in all his glory as he shifted back into human form, using all of his strength to lift me onto Spencer's back before shifting once again.
He walks slowly back to my house as Sara and Jack walk on both sides of him.
While I'm on his back, I suddenly spot a bright light beaming from around a tree.
I squint my eyes to get a better look at the figure and I spot a rabbit.
With mesmerizing purple eyes.
All I could remember was feeling bewitched at those gorgeous eyes as my eyelids grew heavy...
