Kacey's POV

School had just ended a few minutes ago and we're currently on our way home.

Today was a good day! Sara was called on to answer a question and she got it right by guessing, Jack spent half of today on the phone with Nick, and it was Calzone Day at lunch, which is Spencer's favorite.

Maybe this is a good time to tell them the news.

"Guys?" The car grows quiet as they listen to what I have to say. "How do you feel about staying over at Tyler's house for a while?"

Jack makes a stinky face as he sticks his nose into his phone. "Why?"

Damn, what's something that won't worry them? I can't just tell them a bunch of rogues are trying to kill me!

Sara unintentionally saves me. "Maybe since she's going to be Luna there, she wants to get a feel of the place before she moves in?"

I grin, remembering that that's what I told my parents. "Yep, you got it!"

Spencer scoffs in disgust. "Forgot all about that stupid thing," he attempts to mutter as he turns a corner.

Ignoring his attitude, I continue. "Well I want you guys to come with me since Tyler's gonna be busy in meetings and stuff."

Jack's stinky face grows stinkier. "To his house? Kacey, that man is as stale as year old bread. His house is bound to be boring."

Sara pokes her head around her seat, saving me once again. "As long as we have each other we should be fine."

Jack attitudinally slumps down in his chair as Spencer tilts his head back with a groan, nearly crashing us.

"Did your parents even say we could go?"

"Yeah I called them at lunch. They said it was good since they didn't leave us many groceries anyway."

Spencer still looks skeptical.

"Kacey," I hum, looking up at the mirror where Spencer is holding eye contact with me. "is something wrong?"

"No, why would you ask that?"

"You're just acting a little different."

Jesus, why is it always Spencer who catches on? He'll be the one to nag me the most!

"Nothing is wrong, Spencer. Everything is fine. So will you guys come?"

It's almost like I'm not even lying. I know rogues are coming for me and all and I could possibly lose my life, but for some reason I'm not afraid.

"Kira, are you worried?" I ask my wolf.

"I mean, I know I should be. To be honest, I feel at ease."

That's weird...

Maybe the fear will kick in later.

Spencer still looks uncertain of the whole thing, but agrees nonetheless.

"I can come, Sara starts. "My parents kicked me out," she states as Spencer's breathing gets heavy. She must've already told him.

I, however, am fuming at the fact that bonds don't even matter to some people.

"What the fuck?" Jack drops his phone next to him in anger. "When did that happen?"

Sara shrugs and speaks in a dismissive tone, most likely wanting the conversation to be over. "I came home from school one day and saw that my bags were packed. They apparently got a new 'friend' and me being there would only be a distraction."

I rub her arm from the backseat and hold back a growl. "It really breaks me when parents choose their mates over their children."

Yet another reason to admire my parents. They not only gave me and my siblings a life, but also these three. It's like they can never run out of space in their hearts. I'm guessing it runs in my mom's family. Her sister even took in two orphans as fosters until their biological parents came and tried to take them back. Unfortunately, they succeeded. But, they both ran away never to be seen again and they never even got to meet their real parents.

I still dream about them sometimes.

Sara just looks back at me with a smile before clearing her throat. "When do we leave?"

She never liked getting mushy about her feelings.

"Tyler says we have to pack tonight because he's getting us first thing in the morning."

"Why so soon?" Spencer questions.

"He has things to do tomorrow so he won't be able to get us situated. It's a good thing you all practically live at my house."

They all have tough home lives so they spend most of their time at my house. My family took them in as if they were blood.

"Not that I care," Spencer starts as he turns another corner. "but what about our schoolwork?"

I click my tongue confidently. "Tyler's got that covered. We discussed it with my parents and all of our teachers today and came up with an online plan."

"Kacey, did you go to any of your classes today?"

"...no..."

I had to get everything situated!

Suddenly Jack's phone beeps and he checks it before immediately getting red in the face.

Well we already know who he's texting.

Maybe this little trip will benefit more than me...
