Hey guys this chapter is a little bit shorter than usual because of how I want to keep the next two chapters inside their own little areas so that is why this Chapter is shorter. Sorry. Please enjoy reading and I hope you are liking the book so far.

As the smoke from the small town dissipated the two assassins were back in back as more of the creatures surrounded them. "How many of these damn things are there?" Drew said panting as another one of the danger beasts lunged at him before being struck down by his fiery fist.
Akame swung her sword at three more which had tried to gang up on her only to be killed in a matter of seconds. "They certainly don't give up even though they are suppose to be intelligent." She said dashing into a small pile and leaving small cuts on each of their bodies. The cuts soon started pouring out arrows which covered their bodies thus killing them.
Over twenty of them charged at Drew hoping to take out the assassin before they all were killed. Drew reacted with a short smile and opened his mouth. Flames poured in and his cheeks puffed up. "Karyū no Hōkō," the flames came out of his mouth and engulfed his enemies turning most of them into burned carcasses.
Akame quickly dodged and hid behind a destroyed cart which provided some cover against the flames. After all of the flames were used Drew fell onto his knees panting. Akame rushed over to him. "Are you ok?" She asked tired herself as she sat down.
Drew fell back onto the ground. He sniffed and tried to smell out any other creatures in the area but could not smell anything else. "Yeah I'm alright." The sun was already high in the sky and it seemed like they had been fighting for minutes instead of hours. Both were heavily exhausted and were all scratched up from the fighting. "Could you find anyone during the fighting?" Drew asked calmly and sat up looking at her.
She shook her head softly. "I didn't find anyone. We got here too late it seems." She looked down and seemed to be upset by this. All Drew could do was scoot closer to her and pat her head like he did before they went to bed. She smiled a little and hugged him before standing back up. "We should get going and report in to Najenda." Drew nodded and stood up stretching. Before long the couple started walking back.
It took them a little while before they made it back, but when they did almost everyone was crowded around Tatsumi. Mine was blood red and mad about something while Lubbock, and Leone had shocked expressions on their faces. Chelsea looked as if she didn't care but the way she kept looking at him whenever he spoke clearly gave it away they she was somewhat interested. Akame quickly went over to see what was up while Drew went to ask Najenda. "Why is everyone crowded around him all of a sudden?" He asked.
"Turns out Tatsumi had another run in with Esdeath while out on patrol." She said taking smoking her pipe.
Drew stood there for a second and let it process in his head before he finally realized it. "What?!" He said looking at Tatsumi. "Are those two like romantically connected or something?" Drew asked.Mine heard this and stared in his direction giving him a terrible glance which pierced through his very soul. "I-I think I'm going to head to my room." He said and walked upstairs. As he got there he sat down at the small desk which was given and laid his head on it. "Why is it that Mine is so devil scary?" He said while sighing.
A few hours later...
After hours of teasing Tatsumi and getting Mine fired up everyone had went to their own rooms. Akame walked into Drew's, since it was practically hers as well, and saw him sleeping on the desk. She smiled and walked over to him and quickly kissed his cheek and put a blanket over him. As she did this she thought about what she would so if she had lost him or any other members of Night Raid. As the thoughts went through her mind she shook her head thinking nothing would happen. That all of them would be alright, but there was this aching feeling in her heart that something would happen. She hugged Drew from behind. "I don't want to lose anyone else." She said quietly though loud enough for Drew to hear.
He was still awake and could hear her soft cry. 'I promise I'll protect you and everyone. No one else is dying.' Drew thought making the promise to her in his head. Akame unwrapped her arms and went to the bed where she laid down and fell asleep. Drew lifted his head and looked out the window. It was only a week till the ambush. There he would have to do everything he could to protect Akame and everyone.
