Chapter 27: The Top Two Generals

Both sides prepared for combat. Esdeath and Budo watched and prepared themselves mentally to finish off the five Night Raid members standing before them. As Akame and the others prepared themselves, she looked around not seeing the other individual they were supposed to save. "Hey where's Lubbock?" She asked and turned to Tatsumi.

He turned and looked at her and then to everyone else before putting his head down. "He didn't make it." He said in a sad tone of voice. "He was cut down after trying to escape the capital palace. At least that's what I was told by Esdeath while locked up."

Drew still staring down Esdeath and Budo spoke saying, "So it just gives me another reason to burn these two to ashes then." He said getting into a fighting stance. "Then that's fine by me." As he said this tears started to form in his eyes over the loss of his comrade.

Akame nodded in agreement grabbing her sheathed sword and unsheathing it. "The boss should be coming here with a dangerous beast that we can use for our escape." She said.

Leone who was starting to grind her teeth together replied to her, "Yeah well that should be the easy part. It's going to be getting out that will be difficult." She said turning her head towards the two generals who were waiting for them. "If we want to get out of here alive, we have to do something about those two." She said letting the claws on her hands come out, preparing herself for battle.

As the field started to get more intense large dark clouds started to appear above them all. Everyone looked up noticing them start to swirl around. "The sky!!" Mine exclaimed. "It's got to be his teigu!" She said.

The clouds start to form around Budo as his power could be seen to increase. Tatsumi who was starting to get winded caught himself before he collapsed. "Damn it... My entire body feels like it's being ripped to shreds" He said lifting up his hand in examination. He then clenched it and looked up at Budo. 'But." He thought.

Budo swinging his arms back then forward fired off a dark ball of energy in which he shouted, "TAKE THIS!!", as it skyrocketed towards them.

Tatsumi moves in front spinning his spear in a circle starting to deflect the large projectile. 'We all have to push our limits sometimes and I can't think of a more deserving time than now!' He thought as he slightly struggled against it.

"Tatsumi!" Akame yelled as she moved in to help only to feel a certain person's presence. Esdeath was closing in fast with her sword out. "Esdeath." She said blocking the blow.

Esdeath grinned in delight. "You blocked that well! Akame!" She said launching a flurry of sword strikes, each one being blocked by Akame until finally one of them pushed her back. As Esdeath went in for a killing blow Drew came into view about to strike.

Not expecting him she swung her sword but as she did Drew dodged by a hair's length. "Fire Dragon's Fist!" He yelled as his fist lit on fire. It then made contact with Esdeath sending her somewhat back.

As she landed back on her feet she smiled and looked at Drew. "I'm surprised you were actually able to hit me though it was pretty much useless in the end." She said as small pieces of ice drop from the contact point on her side.

Drew smiled and laughed. "The point wasn't too make it useless. Just to keep you distracted." He said with a smirk.

Akame then appeared behind Esdeath and stabbed straight ahead at her. Esdeath however dodged just barely. 'I've got to make my movements unreadable.' She thought and closed her eyes. A white aura started to appear around her and when she opened them it dissipated. She then started to move about in weird movements swinging and dodging attacks as well as parrying Esdeath's sword.
