Chapter 26: A Fight for their Lives

As the arena grew quite the crowd looked upon the small pink haired girl in fear. One man in the audience started to speak saying, "The Great General... How could a gun be so powerful..."? This same man turned around and started to climb over others in the stands screaming, "If we stay here, we'll be killed!! Run!!" He yelled causing the other audience members to hurry and tumble over each other as they fled the arena.

As the civilians started to panic and escape soldiers hurried out to the arena to assist their generals. "Lady Esdeath." They screamed out as they moved in to help.

Esdeath looked over at them holding her hand out telling them to stop. "I don't need your help! Focus on evacuating the crowd!" She ordered before turning her attention back towards Mine.

Mine smiled and held up pumpkin with a slight aura starting to form around her. "Now I can finally fight without holding anything back." She said with a smirk on her face.

As Mine started to walk closer to Esdeath, Esdeath started to look around the arena wondering where the other members of Night Raid were. 'Najenda wouldn't just let her subordinate charge in and abandon her.' She though. 'Akame and rest will definitely try an ambush.' She then turned her attention back towards Mine who was preparing to attack. She lifted her hand up and started to twirl her hand around her blue hair and grinned. "How entertaining." She said.

Mine finally pointing pumpkin towards Esdeath as she let out a shriek. "Esdeath!!" She said firing the massive gun at her only to have it miss as she dodged out of the way. "You aren't getting away! I will make sure there isn't a piece of you left!" She yelled swinging pumpkin around causing the beam to shoot around towards Esdeath. In the last second, she jumped into the air barely dodging the beam. As the two glanced at each other Esdeath lifted her hand up and held one finger up. In an instant she created a giant hunk of ice and sent it crashing down towards Mine. "Like that'd work!!!" She yelled pointing her teigu at the ice shard and firing it, shattering the giant ice block.

As the block shattered Esdeath pulled her sword out ready to strike. However, Mine predicted this and swung pumpkin up only to bring it back down unleashing a large blast like wave. Using a small chunk of ice that was still left over Esdeath barely dodged only having a bit of her hair get caught in the blast. "Oh." She said surprised as she landed back on the ground. "What incredible firepower. If I drive you even further into a corner, will it grow even more?" She looked up at Mind and smiled slightly. "And on top of that even with all of those blasts being aimed at me you were able to set Tatsumi free." She said hearing Tatsumi get down from his cross.

Mine grinned big acknowledging the compliment. "Why thank you. I am a genius sharpshooter after." She said.

As Tatsumi got up he looked over at his left shoulder and saw a bit of smoke coming from it. It had got slightly hit by the beam, but he looked away from it and smiled. He then started to walk towards the center of the arena. "You keep aiming a bit too close for comfort, but thanks Mine." He said with a smile as he walked next to the pole which Incursio was secured to. As he reached out to grab it, he felt a slight pinch which made him retreat his hand. 'What's this?' He thought as he looked at the hilt of Incursio.

Upon further inspection the hilt had been wrapped with small spikes. He then proceeded to unwrap the spikes off of Incursio as Esdeath turned towards him. "You have no reason to hide it, anymore right?" She said with a sort of sad tempo. "Transform, Tatsumi! Come at me with everything you have, and I will answer you in return!" She said as her tempo picked up becoming more serious. "If you can live through it... Then that can only be destiny!!" She smiled in delight. 'I was going to wound him but intentionally miss the vital spots, and leave him on the brink of death so I could take him away, but...' A sinister smile started to appear across her face. 'This will be much more entertaining.' She thought.
