Never again will I eat wherever Aaron took me, that food made me sick. Towards the end of the day I found myself sitting in the nurse's room getting something to soothe my stomach. It could have been the food, or just because I haven't eaten in days.

Probably the second theory. The nurse looked like she was sick of seeing people already today, she looked cranky. Worse than me. Her blue scrubs were dirty, and her hair was everywhere. She looked as if she forgot about her makeup and rubbed her eyes. Perks of not wearing that shit.

I stood up from my seat and gave her a small genuine smile, "Thank you"

She didn't say anything back, she just huffed and puffed.

Okay then....

I grabbed my things from my locker and waited patiently for the bell to ring so I can walk home, but Aaron entered into my view. "Ready"

I mentally slapped myself for forgetting about him now trying to be my friend. It was nice of him to buy me food, but giving me a ride home 24/7 wasn't in my book of being comfortable with.

I stopped in front of his truck and turned on my heels, "I'm just gonna walk home, so I can get some fresh air. I don't feel the best"

"That's another reason for me to give you a ride. Plus, your mom is a germaphobe I'm sure you can get some fresh air when you get home. I'm just dropping you off where your care use to be"

He just said 'where your care use to be' meaning my car was no longer there?

"what do you mean by use to be?" I asked curiously.

"My dad went and picked it up. We're gonna start working on it tonight for you. He said he knew your dad and everything so he was happy to help me out" Aaron shrugged like this wasn't that big of a deal. But in all honesty, I was freaking the fuck out.

If his dad knew my dad... does he know about my mom?

"Aaron, I don't want you to help me out. I can figure this stuff out on my own. You're making me feel like a charity case. I'm human too, I hope you know that." I spoke in a very serious tone, trying to wiggle my way out of this situation.

"I'm just trying to be a friend Firefly, no need to get all buzzy" he put his hands up in a surrendering motion.

"Firefly?"

"Yep"

"no"

"Too bad" Aaron leaned up against the hood of his truck and rolled his eyes at me, "I'm keeping the nickname. You either deal with it or deal with it. Because I am not changing it."

"Deal with it or deal with it?" I asked laughing.

"Meaning I don't care what you think. The nickname sticks. Suck it up"

He pushed himself off of the truck and gestured for me to get in the truck, I was now going to try and consider him a half an acquaintance.

"Fine."

* * * * * *

After the truck, ride arguing with Aaron about how the nickname didn't fit me, but he spat back with a really sentimental definition to the nickname 'Firefly'.

"You fly through life with a light attached to you no matter where you go. Meaning you see the brightness in any tough situation. I noticed these past few days that something isn't going well for you, and those kids" he stopped for a second to gain a breath or two, "You weren't just babysitting. The at least look like your cousins or something. Seeing as they look just like you, I can see something is up. Stop lying to me because I won't have lied too and I will figure out what you are lying about whether you like it or not. I'm making you my friend because I want to be friends with you, not because I feel like you are some charity case"

Those words played through my head the rest of the night. I even picked up my check and bought some food that should last us until the next paycheck. My aunt let me off work today telling me that the kids probably need more than the restaurant needed me. She told me I would still get paid. Which I was thankful for, she is awfully nice to me even if she doesn't want to be in the family drama.

Everyone but me and Kinsey were in the living room asleep from a long and tiring day. They put in a movie and they were each out within fifteen- twenty minutes.

I had a normal conversation with Kinsey talking about her friends and asking how school was going. It is close to the end of the school year and I will be graduating whether I like it or not. Meaning I will be working my ass off for this family. I want to get a lawyer and take the kids from my mom and then clean this house out and refresh our lives a little bit. Kinsey is also starting a job with our aunt in a couple of weeks to help with the money situation. The twins want to start doing some stuff and helping out around the house. So, I've been teaching Ryan how to stand up to our mother and not letting her win in any fight, and I've been teaching Tyla the normal around the house chores that need to be done every day so we don't look like a bunch of gross ass pigs.

Now that I have someone wanting to even talk to me, I'm going to start seeing how well he is at keeping secrets. So, I'm going to tell him a fake lie and hopefully, he won't go spread it everywhere.

I'm going to tell his cocky ass that Ayden is my very own child. Since he hasn't really seen him but that once I am going to try and tell him he is younger than he looks. If that plan works out, then I will figure out something from there. I want this friendship to work. Especially after what he said to me in the truck while driving me to our tree we will be meeting up at every morning. This boy has me driving over the edge and I can't turn back now. Looks like I'm just going to fall.
