Having neighbors is a funny thing. Most peace you have in your home during the day is determined by whether you have good neighbors or not. If you asked (Y/N) if she liked her neighbors, she would say right away she adored them, but only because of the boy next door. Jasper.

The girl had lived in an apartment with her parents for three years. And since she got there, she had been enchanted with the boy with gloggles she always saw coming home from school (though the school wasn't the same as hers).

They had already said some "hi" and smiled at each other over those years, but only that. And (Y/N) couldn't help but develop a crush on him. But she preferred to admire him from afar, not having the courage to go and talk to him

The girl just knew what his name was because she had search for him on the apartment manager's list earlier that year, and since then she couldn't stop calling him "the boy next door" or "goggle boy".

After that, too, she couldn't help but smile when she heard the name "Jasper" being pronounced somewhere, she couldn't help but write his name in her school notebook when she was bored, just wondering if she'd get home in time to see him coming from his school.

(Y/N) wasn't at school right now, but at home, yet she had that notebook in her hand. The girl was sitting on her couch as she wrote several "Jasper" on a blank paper, drawing some hearts next to his name. (Y/N) honestly didn't know why she did it, but it was just fun, just as it was fun to imagine that someday she would talk to him, and that maybe, if she was very lucky, he would fall in love with her. But she knew that day was far from coming, and writing his name brought some comfort to her.

A quick knock on the door startled her, causing her to jump slightly on the couch. Hardly anyone knocked on her door, just a few friends her parents had made in the apartment, but they should know that her parents weren't home at that time. (Y/N) stood up, walking quickly to the door and opening it, the sight ahead of her making her heart skip a beat. Jasper was there in front of her, a smile on his lips, goggles on his head and a kitten apron. Weird, but she wouldn't question that.

"How can I help you?" that was the first thing that had come out of her mouth, and the girl had cursed herself for sounding so formal.

"It's just that my friend and I were doing some... Experiments..." the girl raised an eyebrow as he glanced at his door. "I don't think it's really safe for me to stay there. I was wondering if I could stay here for a few minutes until things were settled."

Oh God, was he really asking to stay there? The girl moved away from the door, allowing the boy to enter. "What about your friend?" she looked down the hall and it was empty.

"He's the one fixing the mess." Jasper shrugged, then noticed the girl's questioning look. "He's the one who did it, so we agreed it would be fair that he cleaned up what he did."

"Okay..." she said slowly, closing the door behind her.

Nervousness went through her, the reality that he was there in her house, sitting on her sofa finally hit her. That was probably the moment when she would start feeling awkward. That was the only thing she could think of, but then she felt herself sit next to him, her heart beating faster, but the words flowed normally through her mouth.

"So what kind of experiment were you guys doing?"

"Oh, you know..." his eyes widened slightly at her question. "School stuff."
