Chapter 6:
The next morning Harry woke at six o'clock on the dot, ready to get back to his work. He had missed it a great deal and was eager to get back.
Harry and Ron were both Aurors. The Ministry of Magic had let Harry and Ron skip through all the training to be an auror, since they both had literally experienced it all first hand.
He got to the muggle train station and waited for Ron to arrive. They had both decided that the best way to get to work was to go the muggle way all incognito. Neither one of them wanted to admit it but they both knew that they were still paranoid from the Voldemort times not too long ago.
Ron arrived a little later painting. He leaned over and touched his knees, trying to gain back some breath.
"Sorry mate I missed my alarm. Can you believe that?" he said in between large gulps of breath.
"No problem," Harry replied.
They made their way to the train and bought their tickets. Once they got off the train they located the red phone both that took them down to the Ministry of Magic.
They were both greeted with many hellos and welcomes and how are yous as they walked through the Ministry towards their office. One would think that they had been gone for years with the welcome they got every morning. Every person that worked in the Ministry was always eager to greet Harry and Ron whenever possible.
It was at lunch that Harry was finally forced to look away from his work.
Ron and him had met up with Mr. Weasley who had some of Mrs. Weasley's leftovers from the night before for all of them. They sat and ate their food as for the first time in the day they let their business-like manner slip and they chatted casually with one another.
Harry almost didn't notice the presence of Kingsly Shackelbot, the new Minister of Magic. It was not until Ron nudged him and Mr. Weasley looked up that Harry turned around to see who had approached them.
"Harry may I have a word," his deep voice commanded.
"Yes, of course," Harry replied getting to his feet.
He could feel Ron and Mr. Weasley's eyes on him as he followed the Minister of Magic away.
He followed Kingsly to his office.
"So what did you want to talk about Kingsly?" Harry asked, once they had both seated across from one another.
"Well Harry we have just created the new Thunderbolt 1000 broom that is supposed to be faster than any other," Kingsly started.
A small bit of excitment filled Harry. The same excitement that filled him whenever he thought about brooms.
"We would like you to try it out for us. Give it a test run. What do you say?" Kingsly asked.
Harry beamed,"Yes! I would love to."
Kingsly smiled back at him. "I knew you would. Oh and you can bring Weasley with you, I believe he would enjoy it also."
Harry nodded,"sounds great."
"The brooms will be waiting for you outside the Ministry after work," Kingsly informed him.
Harry nodded again.
Kingsly looked down and began shuffling through papers and Harry got the hint that this was his time to leave.
He muttered a soft thank you to the Minister of Magic and walked out of his office.
He shuffled through the hallways excited to tell Ron the wonderful news.
