Chapter 17:
This time, Harry was the one struggling to keep up with Hermione.

"Where are you going?" Harry asked panting.

She made a sharp left turn. Harry almost lost his balance as he abruptly followed her.

"To get my wand. I didn't think I would need very much now. But apparently I do."

She exited the ministry's large doors into the sunlight. Harry covered his eyes from the sudden light and hesitated a moment before quickly picking up his speed to stay on pace with Hermione. He was not sure where they were going but he continued following her, struggling to keep up and trying not to let it show.

Hermione finally stopped in front of a muggle car on the corner of the street. She unlocked it and entered.

Harry hesitated in front of her before smiling. Even with everything going on, Hermione driving a muggle car was amusing to him.

"Hermione," Harry asked trying to conceal his silent chuckles, "why are you driving a muggle car?"

Hermione found her wand and stuffed it into her bag. She slung it over one shoulder before exiting the car and locking it.

"It's always handy to know how to drive a car and it's much safer than apperating," she explained, pulling her bag to her side to zip one of the pockets.

"So Harry," she stared at him, her anger gone now replaced with a mixture of worry, "What now?"

Harry did not answer for a minute. He honestly was not sure of what to do now. He did not know what was happening and was more lost and confused than he ever had been before. All he knew was that he needed to find Ron.

"I'm going to check the place where he disposed of the body. He did seem a bit shaken when he came back," Harry said hurriedly walking back towards the Ministry. He tried to keep the uncertianty and worry out of his voice as he  he spoke.

"Do you know where that is?" Hermione asked, she was keeping perfect pace next to him.

"I think so," Harry answered.

They both entered the Ministry rushed, ignoring anyone that walked in front of them or tried to greet them.

When they entered Harry's department they saw everyone huddled around in a circle whispering.

Harry cleared his throat, not sure of how else to get their attention.

The group''s whispers cut off all at once and they all turned to look at him and Hermione.

"What's going on?" Harry asked, looking around the room for an answer.

They all shared worried glances with each other.

Boggs cleared his throat.

"Erm well Harry...the thing is," Boggs began, playing with his wand absentmindedly, "We examined the car and well..." he looked around nervously, silently for help from the others but they  determinedly did not meet his eyes. "We...er...found some finger prints that the muggle department helped us receive."

Harry felt queasy but didn't let it show. He saw out of the corner of his eye, Hermione shoot him a nervous glance.

"And who's fingerprints were they exactly?"Harry asked trying to be unbothered.

Boggs looked embarassed.

"They were yours, Harry," he said.

Harry knew they were his but he had to pretend he was shocked.

"What," he began unconvineingly, "No. That doesn't make sense. It was probably because I had to touch the outside of the car to take off the spell."

Boggs tried another nervous glance at the others.

"But the thing is," Boggs continued, realizing no one was going to help him, "these were found inside of the car."

Harry's stomach dropped.

Hermione looked at Harry once than began, "Well it couldn't be Harry. There's no way. When was this car found?"

"Er yesterday," Boggs answered.

Hermione threw her hands up in the air. Harry thought that was a little too dramatoc but he appreciated the effort nontheless.

"Excatly," Hermione said, "it couldn't have been Harry because we were having a family dinner yesterday."

Boggs shifted uncomfortably, "Yes we understand that, Ms. Granger but the tests..."

Hermione threw an angry expression at him.

"Who cares about the tests! They lie sometimes."

Harry froze and could not help but throw Hermione a bewildered expression. He never imagined those words leaving Hermione's mouth, but they just did. Today really is a weird day, he thought.

"I guess I can check again," Boggs muttered.

Harry felt bad for Boggs. He knew he was just trying to do his job. He also knew that the last thing Boggs wanted to do was accuse the famous Harry Potter of anything bad. Not when the entire Wizarding World was celebrating his success even a year later.

"Yes I think that would be best," Hermione scoffed.

They stared at each other for a moment before Boggs finally turned and said, "I'll get right on that then."

The rest of the department watched as he commanded a few other workers to follow him and excited the department.

Harry waited a moment before whispering to Hermione, "We have to go."

She nodded and followed Harry.
