Chapter 33:
Hermione kneeled next to Ron, as he groaned in pain clutching his head."What's wrong?", she asked.
Ron had his eyes squeezed shut. "I have a weird deja vu... as if I've been here before"
They were in a dark room with walls that looked as if they were made out of rocks and no windows anywhere or even a door to see any sign of daylight. They had been stunned and blinded and thrown in here by the two men and told to wait here until further instructions.
"Do you know where we are?", she asked allowing her hopes to be brought up for a moment.
He shook his head.
Down dropped her heart.
She put her hand on his cheek, "That's okay. We just need to find a way out of here"
She lifted herself onto her feet and began scanning the room. There had to be a door somewhere. She ran her fingers along the wall looking for any sign of a hidden door. It was clear after she had scanned the entire wall for a sign of a door that there must not have been one.
Disappointed and frustrated, Hermione plopped down on the floor and raised her hands in anger.
"There's no door! There has to be some way to get out!", she exclaimed and began stomping on the ground hoping for a trap door, even though she knew there wasn't one.
Then suddenly Ron sprang up from his position.
Hermione rushed over to his side, as his blue eyes turned faint as if somewhere off in another world.
"Up", he said.
"What?", Hermione asked him, hearing him but not sure of what it meant.
"Up", he said again and stood. He looked up at the ceiling above them.
Hermione followed his gaze up to the ceiling. For a moment all she could see was the same rock as the walls were but then she saw it. A very thin string that was almost unnoticeable to any human eye was dangling from the air.
Hermione followed the string until she found the end, which was only a little taller than her.
She stepped on one of the rocks to give her a boast and reached out to the string. She pulled and magically she heard a creak as above her a door burst open. She smiled happily and kissed Ron on the cheek. "You're a genius Ronald Weasley!", she said, except she couldn't shake the feeling that she hadn't discovered it first.
"Okay give me a boast up and then I'll pull you up after me", she said.
Ron nodded and cupped his hands.
Hermione stepped on his hands and with one motion she was thrown up and barley caught onto the ledge of the trap door.
She lifted herself up and then reached down to Ron.
He grabbed her hand and it took all the strength in her to raise Ron to the top of the trap door also.
Once on top Hermione looked over at Ron to make sure he was okay and was surprised to see him already standing up, looking around their new location.
She stood and joined looking around.
It wasn't much brighter than the room they had been in before, but it now looked as if they were in a maze of some sort. Ron stepped forward to enter the maze but Hermione put her hand on his shoulder to stop him.
"Wait", she said, "we don't have our wands or anything to defend ourselves so we have to be very careful about what we do"
She took one step forward into the tunnel and to her surprise nothing happened. She waved Ron to follow her and then carefully continued down the path.
