Chapter 22:
The next few days went by in a flash.Ron had finally gotten the clear to leave and was walking around on crutches. Harry had gone back to work but Ron still wasn't fit to. Hermione stayed with Ron for most of her time, considering she hadn't gotten a job yet. Ginny spent most of her time also with Ron or at home tiding up the house.
Harry had been working hard and was preparing for his first day teaching the Hogwarts students. He still hadn't gotten the letter from Professor Mconagal but he still was preparing for when he did.
It was one breezy Thursday afternoon, Harry had arrived from his work to the smell of Ginny's wonderful cooking. Still happy that Ginny had gotten Mrs. Weasley's cooking talent. He went to the kitchen and kissed her. "Hey welcome home", she smiled once she saw his face properly. "It's always good to be home", Harry smiled back. She raised an eyebrow at him. She put down her spoon in which she was stirring ingredients with and turned to him.
"So Harry I was thinking. We haven't got an owl and I would like one to keep in contact with everything that's going on", she looked a bit nervous.
Harry stared at her confused, "I'm not sure what your getting at".
She sighed, "We need an owl and I just wanted to get the clear from you if I could buy one".
Harry stared at her and remembered what had happened to Hedwig. His heart sunk when he thought of her but Ginny was right they needed one. And it's good to move on.
He nodded his head, "of course we can get one". She smiled at him, "good Harry I will go shopping tomorrow for one". Harry smiled back, "sounds good to me". Ginny smiled relived and turned back to her cooking. **
That night they sat around the dinner table eating Ginny's excellent chicken Marsala.
Harry stuffed his face not realizing how hungry he was. Ginny ate a bit more carefully.
Suddenly there was a tap on the window. Harry looked over his shoulder.
"I'll be right back", he stated to Ginny as he made his way over to the noise.
He walked over to see a brown owl the size of a paper bag perched on the window. Harry immediately recognized it as a Hogwarts owl. He threw the window open and picked up the owl. It had a letter attached to it's leg, in which Harry tore it off. The owl hooted silently to him and took off.
Harry walked back to the dinner table opening the letter as he got there. Ginny stared at him when he walked back in.
"Who's it from?", she asked in between bites. "It's from Hogwarts", Harry said still looking down at it as he sat back in his seat. "Well read it", Ginny urged him. She put down her fork to give Harry her full attention. Harry took a deep breath and read:
"Dear Harry,
I know it's been longer than you expected to hear back from me but here it is. I would love for you to come talk to our third years about defense against the dark arts. I feel as I told you that it would teach the students a lot. I was thinking around Wednesday that you could stop by. Reply back when you get the chance.
Sincerely Mineva Mcgonogall"Harry finished. Ginny stared at him.
"Well reply yes", she said as if it was obvious. "I know I am but Wednesday? That is two days from now!", he stated. "Don't worry Harry, you already have everything prepared", Ginny soothed him. "I know", Harry admitted.
He didn't know why he was scared I guess because he wanted to make a good impression but still.
Ginny had picked up her fork again, "Eat Harry you can't stop eating just because your sacred", she raised an eyebrow at him. "I'm not scared", Harry said back. Ginny smirked, "of course you're not". Harry just stared at her but picked up his fork once more and begin to eat.
