Chapter 18:
Harry led Hermione to Ron's office.
"What are we doing here?" she asked him once they entered.
"I'm looking for another clue about where Ron is," Harry rummaged through his belongings, promising himself that he would clean up everything once he found Ron.
"Hey what are you doing in here?" came a voice from behind.
Harry turned on the spot, to meet Katilyn standing at the doorway.
"Uh nothing. Just tiding up Ron's office," Harry stammered.
Katilyn looked at Harry, confused. "Don't you think Ron should be doing that?"
Harry attempted a worried glance at Hermione but she was not looking at him.
"Yeah we thought we'd uh..." Harry paused searching for an answer to satisfy Katilyn's suspicions, "Surprise him."
Katilyn raised an eyebrow, but didn't say anything.
"And who's she?" Katilyn signaled to Hermione.
"I'm Hermione, nice to meet you," she spoke for herself.
"You too," Katilyn replied showing a small smile.
She turned back to Harry, "Well anyways I just got back from my lunch break and I'm so confused. Do you know what all the commotion is about?"
Harry shook his head. "Nope."
"Well thanks anyways. I better get going. Plus it looks like you're busy here," she said and walked away.
Harry and Hermione waited in silence for Katilyn to descend far enough down the hallway before turning to each other.
"Well Harry I think there is nothing here," Hermione said, letting out a sigh.
Harry stopped rummaging through Ron's things. Part of him wanted to argue against Hermione and continue tearing Ron's office apart for some sort of answer but he knew that she was right. There was nothing in Ron's office that could help them.
Harry's shoulders slumped slightly, "Yeah. I guess you're right. Let's go".
Harry moved out of the room to the place where he had spoken to Ron earlier. There was an exit door close by, that he did not think anyone knew was there. Honestly, Harry himself was suprised to see it.
Has this door always been here? he asked himself. He thought by now he knew every part of his department but it appeared he was wrong. However, harry could not shake the nagging feeling that there was something off about that newly discovered exit door.
Harry pushed the door open and Hermione followed. When they entered they were greeted by a dark alleyway that had the smell of garbage.
"What do you think is out here?" Hermione whispered as if someone could overhear them.
"I don't know," Harry answered but he continued down the pitch black alley.
After a few minutes of walking, Harry was getting more curious by the moment and he could tell Hermione was getting more nervous.
"Is there an ending to this?" Hermione asked, panting slightly from the walk.
Right at that moment however they saw a wall in front of them.
"It's a dead end," Hermione said, her curiosity now edging in her voice.
But Harry was not worrying about the dead end, he was focused on the body that was lying on the floor of the dead end. He froze because this person also happened to have flaming red hair.
