"Two.""Four. "
"Six. "
"Eight. "
"Eighty dollars more and you'll be able to get your self a brand new car." Samuel joked as he shuffled the monopoly notes. "You could really use the money though, even if it weren't a car... A new couch? Sweater? Home? Life..." He mumbled the last part.
"I have money." Was all I said.
"Well it sure don't look like it..." He moved a piece from the board game.
"My money's just for emergencies." I moved a piece when it was my turn.
"How isn't needing to buy a sweater an emergency?" He joked again.
"Why are you here again? And forcing me to play board games?" I ask, agitated.
"Well, I figured you could use a friend after all this time." He answered.
"You mean all these years?" I rose a brow wondering why he saw the need of me ha icing company after more than a while.
"Our friendship bloomed immediately when you stopped paying your rent, which was a year ago therefore, I have tried." He added before making one more move.
"Also, years before she left you like this." He avoided my eyes.
"The doors right behind you if your gonna start this shit again." I warned him as he shot his arms up in surrender.
"Relax Delgado, I just got here. I was actually missing your ass. What's it been? A week now?" He looked to the ceiling pretending to appear deep in thought.
I shook my head and sent him to jail when he wasn't looking earning a sigh of defeat from him which only made me smirk at my victory.
"We're you always this Lonely Delgado?" He asked making me squint at him.
"I am not lonely. I am only irritated by human nature and prefer to keep away from shit that annoys me, thus the entire human race." I stood up to get my self a bottle of water from the fridge in the kitchen area.
"You could have just said you just don't like company or something less dark and emotional. A simple I'm just socially awkward would have won me over." I could tell there was a smile on his face due to his tone without even looking at him.
"How's your wife Samuel? Is She still crushing on me?" It was a distasteful topic to open up but since he decided to come over I might as well make the best of it.
"She's okay, but your not gonna be winning her over with this whole look you've got going on." Sam said using his finger to point at me up and down to my outfit before his smirk dropped down to a look of pity and distraught.
"Let's be serious Delgado, we need to talk." He'd better not start.
"Tell me about the book, how far have you gone?" He asked leaving me somewhat startled by his topic of discussion.
"It's, uh, going well." Working with queen Sheba was every mans dream. "I actually started writing it yesterday." I added, taking gulp of my water.
"What's it about?"
"What everyone seems to be reading right now. A mysterious love story I guess, but nothing too cheesy because it's my first and I'm not ready to loose my reputation of action or adventurous best sellers." And to make my love stay with me.
"Oh that's nice, care to share some of your first chapters?" He asked before I shook my head.
"I'm not giving anything away till I'm done." I say remembering her proposal. Wouldn't war her majesty to kill me.
