Carmen is brave. From the moment I met her, I don't think she's ever crossed a state of being physically vulnerable, or ever shown any sign of fear. It was clear in the way she walked, talked and presented herself. Her entire persona just screams, don't fuck with me.You could imagine the look on my face when she looked as if she was desperate to get sucked into the ground by some monster or black hole.
She turned around, slowly, meeting Elijah's eyes shooting daggers of fury into hers. "What are you doing here?" She swallowed a lump in her throat I didnt notice she had been holding.
"Attending a friends Christmas party." He said through gritted teeth, his eyes shifting to me immediately after he answered her.
"And why the fuck are you still here?" Elijah asked, coolly. Making him seem even more intimidating.
"Its a party man, I was invited." I shrugged my shoulders and chugged down the remnants of my drink.
"Hey guys, You know isolating yourselves out here is rude right?" Zuri interjected, folding her arms and glaring at the three of us.
"C'mon everyone's decorating their gingerbread houses." She pulled Carmen away with her and I followed behind just as Elijah grabbed my upper hand. I was pretty sure the blood that was once there had been separated to opposite sides.
"You like her! You fucking like her!" He growled before laughing humourlessly, his grip tightening.
"She's not my type." I shrugged him off. Literally.
"Then why do you look at her like that..." he's shaking, shivering? and I don't know I if should tell Carmen her boyfriend is about to convulse.
"Why the fuck are you guys still here? Zuri came back the second time, grabbing each of us by the arm. And to the gingerbread stations.
Elijah wasted no time in taking a seat next to Carmen while I scurried on over to an empty seat.
"Micah, right?" one of Carmen's friends sat next to me extending his arm for me to shake.
"I'm Luca, you beat my ass at Uno twenty minutes ago?" I shook his hand hesitantly when realization hit me.
"yeah, sorry about that" I said before looking around the table, seeing how everyone was busy, I grabbed an icing tube.
"Its aight man. No ones ever beaten Angela though so seeing her defeated was my Christmas wish come true." He let out a laugh and stuck on some candy canes on my ginger bread house.
"We're partners." He stated a matter of factly in response to why he touched my house.
"it's dumb but Zuri likes it. This kinda shit, all her friends doing shit together." His voice softened at the last part.
"is she your girlfriend?" I asked causing him to look at me as if I had grown a third eye.
"Dude, hell, no." he shook his head in amusement.
"shes nice, not to mention hot as hell, but not for me. Besides," He bit his lip as if he were stiffening a smile as he had his gaze locked on someone.
"I already have a girlfriend." I followed his gaze and felt my heart nearly drop when it was clear he was staring at Angela.
"Your not- " I said when he knew, I knew.
"damn straight." He chuckled.
"why?" I squinted wondering if he was messing with me.
"You cant help who you fall for right?" he shrugged before taking the icing tube from my hand.
