A/N: Sorry I been slow this week, I had a lot of stuff going on. It was part of the reason why I made so many stories at once last week to take a breather. Anyway somebody asked for an Optimus x Blind Reader, but I've been doing too many OP requests so I thought I would use Ratchet instead. Don't get mad at me ._.
Description - You have always lived your life blind and never could see life for what it was, but what if your whole life consisted of only one bot?
⚠️ Warning!: Contains fluffy smut ⚠️
Most of my life has been a struggle. I was never given independence during my youth because I had to rely on others to assist me through simple everyday tasks. Life was hard for a bot who couldn't see. Some may even say that I was useless, but I tried my best to fight my demons and live on like a normal Autobot.
I awoke from my slumber, feeling the slightly cold air along my plates and hearing the faint sounds of my dorm flood my audio receptors. The familiar hum in the air vents, the sounds of piping coming from the hall, the buzz from whatever light was on in here. I breathed in deeply, smelling the stale air. Despite the natural sounds of the base, everything was at peace. Nothing was undisturbed.
The others wouldn't even pay mind to the background noise of their base, but to me, it sounded like home. The familiarity in them brought me a sense of security. They were part of my artificial sight that I pictured in my mind of the surroundings I've grown attached to. Even the slightest change in the environment wouldn't go unnoticed.
I finally sat up and gave myself a wonderful stretch from a good night charge. I began my routine, heading to the shower and cleaning myself. I even took the time to buff myself of the scuffs I felt along my knee plates and chassis. I may of known my way around the facility, but that didn't excuse my clumsiness and the slight chance of anyone repositioning crates and such in the main areas.
My last experience with misplaced objects was when Smokescreen left the ball of scrap metal that him and the wrecker's play with lying in the open. Knowing my luck, I happened to walk right into it and tumbled over it falling flat on the ground. Ratchet was the first one to come to the scene with a wearily sounding Smokescreen behind him. He felt terrible afterwards, but I reassured him that it was just a silly mistake. He made it up to me later that day with his humour and funny jokes.
Not being able to see any of my comrades didn't bother me much. They all sounded unique in their own way. I could sense the energy through their tone. I didn't have to see their face to know how they were feeling. Optimus was mellow when he was in his calm and collected state. His voice grew more assertive and pronoun when encouraging the others. I didn't know exactly how tall he was but I knew he rose above the others by the distance of his voice.
