"Okay, class. I know I'm not your science teacher, but we're required by law to make these field trips as educational as possible." Mr. Samson stated.

The entire class groaned.

"I know, I know," Mr. Samson shushed the students. "To be honest, I'm not super thrilled about that either. You guys earned this trip! You should get to enjoy it! However, it's not my choice, it's a law. The law states that a grade must be added to the grade book that has to do with this trip. So, I had an idea. Who said the assignment couldn't be a word search?"

The students snickered quietly amongst themselves.

Mr. Samson pulled a stack of word search papers out of his bag. "Adam? Do you want to help me pass these out to everyone?"

Adam, who was quietly sitting in the front row with his friends, smiled and nodded, happily agreeing to help.

"Oh yeah, of course the teacher's pet is going to help out!" Triston guffawed from the back of the ship.

Adam, disappointed at Triston's bad attempt at teasing him, looked back at Triston and quietly said, shaking his head, "Who even says that anymore? Shut up!"

Ignoring the jerk, Adam stood and went to retrieve the papers and proceeded to hand them out to every student. As soon as he sat down again, the ship was in motion.

The day trip was simple: they would fly to and circle Mercury, Venus, Earth, the moon, and Mars, and learn cool facts about each of the planets!

As they approached Mercury, Mr. Samson announced, "Alright, just warning you all, but it is going to be a little toasty in here, since we're really close to the sun."

Adam was confused by how they could possibly get so close to the sun without burning up, but then remembered, from research that he did in the past, that modern space ships are built to be able to withstand temperatures of up to 4,220 degrees Fahrenheit and as low as -3,575 degrees Fahrenheit.

However, this did not mean the ship wouldn't get hot.

Pretty soon, all of the students were sweating and fanning themselves.

"Whew, it's HOT!" Ryan shouted a little too loudly. He could see the eyes of every person on the ship looking at him. "I-in here," he added, a lot quieter this time. Landon giggled and Mark rolled his eyes. Adam just smiled.

"It's still so hard to believe that we're in space, even though we've been here a few days now." Adam sighed happily.

     "I know," Mark smiled.

"Hey! Look at that!" Landon pointed out the window.

Adam and his looked and saw Mercury right out the window.

"Here it is! The smallest planet in our solar system: Mercury!" Mr. Samson announced.

"But what about Pluto?" another student asked.

"PLUTO ISN'T A PLANET, YOU MORON!" Triston's voice echoed through the ship. The entire class laughed, including the student, the teacher, and Triston.

"Okay, that was pretty funny, but don't call people morons," Mr. Samson chuckled, letting Triston's smart remark slide by once again.

     Later, they approached Venus.

"And this is Venus, the second planet in our solar system!" Mr. Samson shouted.

"Hey! You know what rhymes with Venus?!" Triston shouted, wearing a giant, evil smirk.

"TRISTON! If you dare say what I think you're going to say, you'll be in a lot of trouble, mister!"

     "Yeah, yeah, I know."

     Then, they came to Earth.

"And this is our home, Earth, the only planet that humans can survive on!" Mr. Samson said.

"Unless you're a Martian!" Triston shouted.

Mr. Samson put a hand on his forehead and inhaled deeply, annoyed at Triston. "Triston..."

     "Yeah, okay, fine."

"I think I can see my house from here!" Landon said to his friends, pointing out the window.

"Sure... Sure you can." Ryan stated sarcastically as he patted Landon on the shoulder, a smirk on his face.

"That's impossible, though. We are too far away." Mark added.

"Hey, people can dream." Adam replied with a shrug.

Soon after, they approached the moon.

"And there is the moon!" Mr. Samson stated. "Did you know that the moon was created by a giant space rock that hit Earth when it was still being made? It broke the Earth into pieces, and some of those pieces became Earth, and the others became the moon!"

"No, and we didn't care either!" Triston shouted again.

Mr. Samson groaned, and ignored him. "Over 100 years ago, the US was the first country to put an astronaut on the moon!"

"Woah, cool! I don't care!" Triston replied sarcastically. He and his friends laughed.

"Triston! Are you going to do this every single time we pass something?!"

He shrugged. "I was planning on it..."

    "Well please don't. Thank you."

Finally, the class came to Mars. "And lastly, this is Mars, the red planet! A few years ago, the US was also the first country to put a man on Mars!" Mr. Samson looked at Triston in suspicion to see if he would say anything else, but he didn't, so he continued. "It was actually a woman named-"

    "USA! USA! USA!" Triston hollered.

    "Triston!!!"

A/N: HOLY EXOTIC BUTTERS! 1K READS! OH MY GOD! Thank you all so much! I will have to do something special for that!!! And I hope you enjoyed this chapter! It was A LOT of fun to write! Maybe too much fun... Anyways, I apologize for the HUGE lack of updates! I have been SUPER busy! Summer school is a PAIN IN THE BUTT! If you don't have a lot of time on your hands, never, EVER do online summer school unless you're doing PE or something like that. My school offers it and I'm probably going to do that next summer. But that's the worst excuse ever because the first semester ended June 29! However, I was WAY behind on a little project I do every summer called my summer diary. Let me tell you, this year's diary is a WILD RIDE, and because I was an idiot and didn't keep up, I had to spend all of my free time catching up! Fortunately, I did today! ...and summer school starts again tomorrow. I'm sorry, guys, I'll try to update if I can! I'm going to be in Disneyland with Lorelle (my friend who is the main character of my other book, Deep Below Ground) on July 11-14 and I'll be standing in line a lot, so I can try to update! But school always comes first! And soon, after my birthday in November, work will come second! Oh boy! But that's not important right now! I am going way off topic! Thanks again for reading, and for 1,000 READS OMG, and hopefully the next chapter of Field Trip will be out soon! :D
