***Max***
2 weeks later....'Let's wait until I'm 12 weeks' she said....
Well that was at least the plan. But our bundle of joy wants its presence known at once.
As the days have gone by since we have decided to take time spreading the news, her morning sickness has kicked in full force. I stood still under the observing innocent gaze of Miliana as she stares me down waiting for her answers to the questions of : Why is Mommy sick?I take a deep breath wanting to explain and wanting to check on Kira at the same time.
I woke up early this morning with a crazy craving of biscuits and gravy with scrambled eggs and bacon. I watched with a smile how the aroma had my princess finally dressed front-and-center climbing up on the stool ready to eat, then suddenly my queen emerges at her side dressed to Kill.
We talked as usual as I placed her cup of coffee before her. We listened to Miliana talk as I served Kira a plate and placed it before her. Then in a blink of an eye she placed her fingers over her mouth and took off to the bathroom.
Yep!!! there went the 12 weeks standoff. We clearly didn't make it that far. So now I settled down to break the news of the day to my little princess over a cup of coffee. The amazement in her eyes filled my heart as she clapped with excitement.
"A baby!" she quizzed eagerly.I nodded with a grin. She took the news better than I imagined and it comforted me to know that. So, I answered all the questions from the more obvious ones to the difficult ones of when can we see the baby, daddy?
After explaining the process, I leaned over to give her a kiss on the forehead.
"Go ahead and finish up your breakfast, pumpkin. I'm going to check on Mommy okay?""Okay," she nodded.
I can hear the sounds of retching at a distance. I walked slowly into the bedroom towards the bathroom and stopped at the door ready to be at her beck and call if she needed anything.
I softly tapped on the door.
"Beautiful are you o.k.?
"I'm fine," she mumbled softly. My heart went out to her as she sniffled.
I leaned against the door, unable to do anything but listen to her puking her guts out. After some time of stark silence, she emerged into my waiting arms. I held her in there for a while before pulling back and caressing her cheeks to get a good look at her. Her lips were a pale pink, her hair was matted some sticking to her forehead. A worse for wear but still sexy in my eyes.
"Feel better?"
"A Little."
I smoothed away the strands of hair from her forehead; she was cool and clammy to the touch.
"So...who are we gonna break the news to second?"
A frown creased between her brows.
"Second?"
"We have an eager older sister sitting out in the kitchen, wanting to know when she can see her baby brother or sister."
I lowered my arms around her waist and held her close. I watched a color of warmth form on her face as her eyes softened.
"Is she happy?"
"Yes she is, surprisingly enough she took the news better than I hoped.
She sighed with relief lowering her head to my chest with a soft laugh. We laughed and spoke for a brief moment as I caressed her. Shortly after sometime, she pulled away and began straightening herself out. I watched her for a while as she cleaned her face and began to reapply her eyeliner and lipstick.
"How about you stay home today, babe," I suggested watching her fix her hair.
She paused then slowly turned around. I braced myself for the outcome that could come out both ways. An argument she wins or one where I win but will pay for later. Either way I've made my peace with the living room couch long ago so I'm prepared for the revisit.
"Again Max?" She sighed.
I remained silent.
"I have so much to do today. I can't."
"Beautiful you can't possibly think about going to work sick like this," I try to reason.
But she stares at me. Deep down I know the slow overbearing me is just pacing and waiting. I slowly step closer and stand before her. I gaze down at her. The silent challenge in her gaze followed by a BUT seemed to linger in the air between us. But to my amazement and relief her shoulders lowered and her gaze softened. She presses into me and buries her face in my chest.
"I think I should go ahead and make that prenatal appointment." I press my lips to her forehead and agreed she should. I was about time.
I take a deep cleansing breath of relief and held her cheeks in my palms. My heart constricted suddenly as my gaze sweeps over her. My mind trails back to the box delivered to her in the lobby by Bianca. In all honesty I haven't been able to forget it. And now with the baby on the way, the urge to keep her and Miliana safe, is stronger now more than ever.
I feel her press into me.
"What's wrong?" She asks.
I try in vain to hide the apparent dread of that day and pray it doesn't happen again. I shake my head and lower my lips to her nose and playfully kiss it.
"I was thinking about coming home early for lunch." My lips curl into a knowing smile. I enjoy the way she narrows those gorgeous eyes at me and cocks her head to the side.
Suspicion and curiosity never looked so good.
"Why do I get the feeling that you aren't talking about actually eating lunch."
I grin.
"Oh! I'm eating lunch," I assure her as I lean forward. She seemed so bewildered at that moment. I just had to go in for the kill.
"I'm having you for lunch," I lowered my lips to hers before she could say anything. I wanted to devour her where we stood but I refrain as I remember minnie me still waiting for me in the kitchen. I decided to settle for another mind blowing kiss before pulling away from her.
We left the room so she could see Miliana off. We stood waiting for the elevator as I helped Miliana into her backpack and Kira handed her, her lunch box. I couldn't help the warm feeling coursing through me as she hugged our daughter. Before giving her a once over she finally stood to face me as the doors slowly opened.
Heat flushed down my spine the moment our eyes connected and she stepped close to give me a kiss. "See you at lunch Mr. Chase?" her was voice soft and sweet. Sexy as hell.
"Absolutely," I tilted her chin up to meet my gaze. "No panties on my platter," I pointed out sternly. She smiled and it lit up my morning instantly.
I lowered my lips once more for a sweet kiss to hold me up at least till I see her again, then stepped into the elevator. I held my princesses hand as the doors slowly shut just before getting a glimpse of that body. Sweet Jesus!!!
