*****Kira*****
Miliana?I turned everywhere calling her name. She was right beside me.
"Miliana, where are you?" I called out thinking maybe she ran off to the other side of fountain circle. I needed to rest and decided to sit there for a while. I noticed Brody wasn't far behind as I let her hand go.
I just let go for a second and she was gone.
My baby was gone. I couldn't find her we looked everywhere.
"Mrs. Chase? " the voice of the police officer pulled me back to the present.
I blinked and looked up to his face; filled with sadness and sympathy.
"Did you see anything or anyone suspicious?" He asked.
The questions were monotonous and I was anxious and annoyed. I needed to go out and find my daughter.
I shook my head, "No, " my voice is raw from shouting and calling for her. My throat burns and my cheeks are humid from the tears that won't stop falling as I break out in a cold sweat of panic and... fear.
Our home was in chaos. My family ever so often tried to comfort me. The living room was filled with detectives and police officers. I couldn't think straight. I needed Max.
But...How can I face him?The guilt makes me shudder.
I lost our daughter.
"Please, no more questions. We need to find my baby. I need to do something to find her, " I stood and in a haze of dizziness I braced myself on the chair before standing completely straight.
"Mrs. Chase, " he reaches for me. "I am afraid I can't---." He paused. "I was given strict orders to keep you here." He murmured then looked over to the group of detectives and to Brody that was deep in a conversation with one of them.
I shook my head. I felt overwhelmed, helpless and lost. I needed to find my baby. She must be crying for me scared and terrified.
"Please, I can't stand here and do nothing, " I begged.
I was so wound up and ready to argue with the young police officer that I barely saw when he looked over my shoulder.
"Beautiful?"
I turned to face the familiar voice.
Max. He walked off of the elevator, his eyes zeroing in on me, his warm gray eyes shining with panic and dread. He made it towards me in large strides and pulled me into his arms.
"I lost her, Max. I just turned away for a second and---, "
He pulled away. He cupped my face, his thumbs brushing away my tears.
"You're not to blame, we will find her, " he shook his head. There was no way to stop the tears after that. They came in a hot flood, blurring my vision and closing my throat.
In no time he was at the forefront of the investigation, asking questions and answering them.
When one of the detectives aimed at me to bombard me with more questions, he stopped the agent from approaching me.
"I think that's enough, my wife's answered all she can. Her answers aren't going to change." His voice was firm and controlled. He pulled me close and we made it to the couch. He sat me down and focused on me.
"Baby, talk to me. I need to know what happened."I drew in a shaky breath and relayed what I remember from the moment we got to the zoo until the moment we arrived at the fountain.
