48 hours have passed and still, there was no progress on Gregory's condition.  He remains unconscious in the ICU. As hopeful as I'd like to be that he pulls through, this sudden dark cloud of despair spreads over me that things were only going to get worse.  I was daunted by the realization that the merger was going to proceed with or without him; placing me at the helm of our joint Corporation.

I sat back and listened to the muffled approval of the board members around the table. We decided that until we knew whether Gregory's health improves or not, We made Kira the Interim CEO of Winthrop Enterprises until we go through with the merger.

Despite my objection of her taking on this role so early in the pregnancy, I decided it was a way for her to keep her spirits up and to keep her from lingering around the hospital and wallowing in pain regardless of it all I discreetly kept tabs on her I needed to be ready and at her side in case anything happened.

The meeting at some point finally ended and I stood up and made my way slowly out the door.  The halls bustled with eager executives and employees rushing to get whatever tasks they had to get done for the day.

I abruptly stop at Rebecca's desk in time to meet her mega-watt smile.

"Any messages?"  I picked pick through a stack of papers; strumming through notices and files with both my father's and my name.

" Yes, here is one from Detective Dowell,"  she handed me the slip and then reached for another.  "And this one is from a misses Valerie,"  she frowns and hands over the slip.

I catch the inquisitive gaze as it lowers and looks away.

"Thank you." I wave both sheets in the air as I turn and make my way to my office. I tossed my folders on my desk and immediately reach for the receiver of the phone and mark the detective's number.

"Dowell, here."

I greeted him and turned to look out the tall glass window at the city below.  My brows crease and my patience begins to fray with the news that Bianca got away.
Again.

"But how?" my jaw is clenched.

"She's an evasive one." he snorts.

"Based on the coordinates from her last text message she used a stolen cell phone that she ditched at a deli on 5th and Seymore.

"Keep me informed, please."

"Will do," he replies.

Tense and bothered by the news, I aimlessly search the crowd below.
"Where the hell are you?" I turn and refrain from slamming the phone down.

It's been 4 days straight that Kira has been getting anonymous calls. The disturbing silence on the other end although not harmful, is eerie. It stresses her out and is not a joking matter. I know she agonizes over those calls but she puts on a brave face. I insisted that she change her number but as stubborn as she is, she refused.

I smirk.

The disapproval in her voice was obvious as she pointed out the inconvenience of changing her number.
"I would have to update my info with Miliana's school, the family and my friend's."

Check, check, check. I know I sound arrogant as I say this.

It was all handled.  I picked up the sleek box with an Apple logo on it. I concede to the idea that she will be upset for a bit that I took the liberty of doing this, but to set my mind at ease, I had to.

My phone buzzes and I reach into my pocket. Its a text from Valerie. I totally forgot that she called me earlier.

'Please go get your wife'
