3 days later....
At 4 in the evening, Chase Industries was surprisingly still humming with activity as I sat back in my chair anxiously waiting for this conference to end. I checked my watch for the third time in a row praying I would make it in time for Miliana's dance recital.I felt guilty that my personal assistant, Rebecca went in my place. Although she insisted and wanted to help, I was up against the wall and couldn't get out of this meeting, so I agreed and told her I won't be too long.
When I walked into the office this morning, she had approached me with a smile.
"Good Morning, Mr. Chase."
"Good Morning. Any messages?"
"Yes." she handed me a folder as she began to relay phone messages."Your father said that the meeting with the shareholders will be in conference room#3 at 4pm, it was moved due to Mr. Sanders flight delay."
"Okay," I nodded rounding my desk and shaking my mouse to wake up my laptop. A beep went off on my screen..
***Miliana's dance recital @ 6pm
Need to be there 5:30 to help prep."Dann it! I'm gonna miss her recital."
"Excuse me?" she smiled and stepped closer.
"Oh no...Miliana's dance recital is today and I'm totally going to miss it."
"I can go for you," she offered.
"No, you don't have to; that's alright."
"No, I insist. Besides I have a free night anyway." she shrugged with a smile.
I took a deep breath. This was just great. A major fückup. This meeting was important and so was Miliana's dance recital. I couldn't be in two places at once.
"Fine, but I will be an hour late." I assured her.
"No problem, it's fine," she said as she left.I checked my phone then waiting for Kira to reply to my last text. I figured she had gotten tied up doing her work. Her last text came at mid-night. I was still up working when she texted me.
~"Can't sleep. So uncomfortable without you. Are you awake?"
I smiled and texted her back.
We stayed up half the night texting. Between the whitty banter and slew of words of love, she fell asleep.
Her early text of an apology this morning confirmed it.
By the time I looked up, the meeting was finally coming to a close. I stood and quickly gathered my things. I was running good time. Enough time to run home to shower and change.
I texted Wilson and met him outside. We took off merging into downtown traffic. I checked my phone and still there was no text message from Kira. I was starting to feel concerned.
We pulled up at my place in the underground garage. I stepped out as Wilson opened the door.
"I'll be down in five." I told him as I quickly made it to the elevator. Using my keycard, I punched in my private code and stood waiting for its ascent to my floor.I exhaled a breath of relief the moment the doors opened. In quick strides I made it towards the bedroom while pulling off my tie and undoing my shirt only to stop at the door.
My jaw slacked in awe as I slowly stepped into a romantic oasis of lit candles and rose petals on the bed with two champagne filled glasses on the night stand.
