****Max****

"So are we okay?" I asked taking a sip of my coffee. I was trying to begin a peaceful line of communication, since last night was a bust.

I say this because I made the grievous mistake of opening my big mouth after we left Gladys's Party last night.

While Wesley drove us home, I sat at her side; continuously going over what she said to Rebecca.

I plan to take my maternity leave 2 months before i'm due.

I glanced over at her. "When were you planning on telling me that you're   working through the pregnancy?"

She had been quiet looking out the window lost in her thoughts.

She turned her head then to look at me. "I didn't think I needed to."

I remained silent for a while.

"Were you going to tell me?" I asked.

"It's no big deal really. I didn't consider it until tonight."

"Oh, really? Well I think I deserved to know."

"Really."  her eyes took on this challenging glint.

"Yes, really."

"How so, Max? Last I checked, I was the one pregnant and carrying the baby."  I stilled, absorbing this sudden prickly electric charge in the air.

"I just think you could have run the decision by me first."

"What for..So you could thwart my decision?"

"What?" I frowned.

I didn't realize it until it dawned on me then that I was lapsing into a land mine of hormonal proportions. She was quiet the whole ride home and I had no clue why the sudden temper.

Her fixed defiant gaze on me was surprisingly alarming.

Suddenly the little space in the car began to tighten and get warm.

The whole situation got out of control quickly and I didn't even know how.

"Beautiful, I..."

"No, Max. It's not up for a discussion." she faces me.

Before I could say another word, the car stopped. I looked up and noticed we had already pulled up to our elevator in the underground garage.

Wilson immediately stepped up to her door and opened it. She stepped out and made her way around the car towards the elevator. I was bothered and so confused.

When Wilson opened my door I stepped out and stood there at his side long enough to watch her leave me there as she stepped into the elevator.

"It's not you. It's the pregnancy. They tend to get moody and emotional." Wilson said as he closed my door.

I agreed as he stood then at my side to watch the elevators door close.
"Just give her some time. She will bounce back to normal after the baby arrives," he pat me on the back.

I took his words like a grain of salt. He knew what he was talking about obviously being a father himself of 4 kids.
"Thanks, Wilson."

"No problem," he smiled turning away to leave.

By the time I reached the apartment, she had already taken a shower and went to bed. A clear sign that she did not want to continue this conversation.
