Max-
1 month later...
My morning is an interesting one as I felt the heat of her gaze on me. I quickly get a glimpse of gorgeous honey brown eyes through the mirror watching me as I tackle with my tie and fix my collar in place. I finally turn and shrug on my vest and look over to the bed. That look on her with her arms crossed over her chest as she sits up against the pillows is unsettling. But at the same time as I step closer to the foot of the bed and observe her, it's that smoldering gaze in her eyes and the pout to those kissable lips that has me alert. And I'm ready for what is to come.
"Do you need anything before I go?" I ask.
I see her struggling with what to say. No doubt a flippant reply burns at the tip of her tongue and it's understandable, I get that she is upset but it will pass. Her health and well-being matter more to me than the little temper tantrum she wants to put down right now. After yesterday's scare, I was adamant in my decision that she stay home. She did not like that. Not one bit.
"No," her answer is concise, edgy and short.
I stand there observing her. My brow rises. Her expression of discontent is so easy to read. She is in full on pissy-pout mode.
"Kira?"
"I'll be fine sitting here doing nothing, While you spend the day in the office with her," she retorted sarcastically looking away.
And there it was... that snarky tone. And I bristled with it.
"Is there something you want to get off your chest beautiful?"
"Yes!"
"Then let's have it."
"I don't want to be here all day in bed." She blurted out angrily.
"That is not up for debate. You're not going into work, end of discussion. Anything else?" I say in a dismissive tone that really got to her. I can feel it.
"You are being unreasonable," her voice rises.
My brow arches. "I'm being unreasonable? Kira, you collapsed during a Yoga class." My voice rises just as high.
"I fainted, but I'm fine," she frowns.
"That's good to know. But you're still not moving from that bed," My jaw clenched.
"I am not disabled, Max. I am pregnant," Deep frustration is etched on her face.
"And I would like you to remain that way," I shout back.
The horrible stretch of silence that followed was electric. The heat in her gaze captivated me. If I haven't said it once, I'm saying it now. She is so fucking gorgeous when she's pissed. I know I shouldn't enjoy the way I get under her skin and ruffle those tail feathers, But God I loved the way she looked. It was so fucking sexy.
We can go around in circles all day with this but I wasn't backing down. And she knew it. She was the most stubborn woman ever but regardless, I love her. After last month's scare, shed some life off of me, I was terrified. I thought the worst when I got the call that she was in the car accident. And now this, she had fainted in the middle of a Yoga lesson. She had finally taken off the heavy burden of picking up the slack for her father in the company. But at the same time fitting in Miliana's School activities in her day to make up for it and it's taking a toll on her health. Taking on too much even though she agreed to take it easy from the office, it was still too much.
I look at her, taking in that heated look. I returned her glare with a steady gaze, then slowly an amused smile flicked at the corners of my mouth.
"You're adorable when you're pissed you know that?" I teased. Her eyes smoldered to a breathtakingly sparkling honey, I couldn't break eye contact.
