When I got the call about Kira's accident, I felt like I had lost everything. I swear it scared the shit out of me and shed years off of my life.

I can't lose her. Not now.
Not ever.

I was a walking mess by the time I pulled up to the emergency room. I was impatient with the young nurse that frantically searched for my wifes information as I rushed her.

I must have looked like hell. Terrifying even, because she trembled as I shouted at her.

'She is my wife. I wouldn't be asking about her if she wasn't now would I?'
A real dick move, I know but I was losing my mind here.

I barely heard the last digit of the room number she was admitted to before I just marched off towards the elevators.

When I finally reached the floor she was on, I walked head long into Brody and another man in a suit. I was aware that Brody wasn't on detail because Kira insisted. And mentally I couldn't be upset with him because deep down I know we were practically driving him insane.

I barely said a word to them I just stepped up to the door that was already opened and paused. My heart fell to my stomach the moment I saw Dr. Vassant pull away from the side of her bed.

I was greeted with a sad smile as she turned to face me.

My eyes were melded to  the figure of my wife on the bed. I took a good look at her and I was shaken to my core.

She looked so peaceful. Frighteningly still. The only indication of life was the strong steady beeps of the heart monitor at her side and the echo of another.

Our baby's....

My knees buckled as I stepped closer.

"How is she?" I managed to ask as I stood beside her.

"She is fine just badly shaken up. We gave her a mild sedative."

"And our baby?" I reached down and rubbed her hand.

"He is good. He is safe. They are both safe." She said.

I felt relieved. She didn't have any major injuries. I leaned over and placed a kiss on her forehead.

I needed to know what happened. I stood up straight and looked out into the hall where Brody stood talking to the guy in the suit. I was reluctant to pull away and leave her but I needed answers.

I stepped out of the room into hall and walked towards them.

Brody turned to face me.

"Mr. Chase, How is she?" He asked. Concern was written all over his face.

"She is okay. She is just shaken up." I said.

"For what it's worth. She was brave and did an awesome job manuevering the car the way she did. It was impressive." Brody said.

I turned my gaze to the door. My eyes landed on her asleep in the bed. I felt a swell of pride blooming in my chest. She handled it better than I would have.

Before we fell into an awkward silence he immediately introduced me to the gentleman beside him.

"Mr.Chase, this is Detective Flores, he is investigating the...uh..accident," he cleared his throat nervously.

I caught onto something there that left me with an uneasy feeling.

"Mr.Chase," the Detective looked at me and paused.

"Is there something wrong?" I watched as he exchanged a glance with Brody.

"We have reason to believe that this wasn't an accident."
