The baby continued to cry; Stevie held onto her and spoke to her. "Hey sweet girl. So you were the one who didn't let me sleep these past few months huh? It's great to finally meet you."
The baby quieted down as Stevie spoke.
Stevie looked at her granddaughter and her heart swelled with happiness. "Oh, you're so precious. Would you like to meet your mommy and daddy? They are very eager to meet you." She chuckled.Stevie looked up at Destiny and said. "Here's your baby girl." She moved gently forward and placed the baby in Destiny's arms.
Stevie laid back against the pillows and watched as Destiny and Mathew greet their daughter. She had a huge tired smile on her face and knew she had done the right thing. Her daughter looked so happy with her baby in her arms.Destiny smiled with tears still rolling down her cheeks. "Hey baby girl. It's mommy. I'm so happy you're finally here."
The baby looked up at Destiny and tiny smile formed on her little face. Mathew stood next to Destiny and looked down at his daughter. Happy tears rolled down his cheeks; he smiled wide and kissed Destiny's cheek.
Mathew then he bent down and hugged his mother in law and thanked her for the greatest gift in life. After a moment, Dr. Bartlett told the nurse to clean the baby up and to make sure the baby was okay. The baby needed to weighed and checked over. While Destiny and Mathew followed the nurse to the area where the scale was kept, Dr. Bartlett helped Stevie deliver the afterbirth. Once Stevie delivered the afterbirth, Lindsey and Dr. Bartlett helped Stevie get cleaned up and get into a clean nightgown. Also, the bed was stripped and had fresh linens put on it.
The baby was now cleaned up and dressed in a comfortable onesie and a pink little hat was placed on her head. She was wrapped in a blanket and was placed back in her mother's arms. Destiny went to sit on the sofa so Barbara, Jess and Aiden could meet the new member of their family.
Lindsey led Stevie back to the bed where once she laid her head on her pillow, the exhaustion hit Stevie with full force. She let a little sigh and closed her eyes. Lindsey kissed her lips then said. "You are an incredible woman. You amaze me every single day, you know that? I love you Stephanie, with all my heart."
Stevie smiled still with her eyes closed and said sleepily. "I love you too Lindsey."
Stevie then opened her eyes and asked. "Lay down with me?"
Lindsey smiled then nodded. "Sure angel."
He took off his shoes then climbed on the left side of the bed. He laid against some pillows then Stevie moved gently to lay next to him. She winced a bit but let out a content sigh once her head rested on his chest.Stevie looked at Destiny who was just beaming with happiness. Stevie smiled a little; Lindsey held her and said. "Why don't you get some sleep?"
Stevie shook her head. "No, not yet. I just want to take in this moment. Destiny looks so happy, doesn't she?"
"She sure does. She's glowing." Lindsey said with smile.
Stevie then took hold of Lindsey's hand that had the bandaid on it and gave it a gentle kiss. "I'm sorry about that." She chuckled.
Lindsey chuckled too and said. "It's alright. It didn't hurt...that much."The nurse and Dr. Bartlett had excused themselves to give the family time to bond with the baby. The nurse came back a few minutes later with a bottle for the baby. Destiny took the bottle saying thank you then she began to feed her daughter. She and Mathew couldn't take their eyes off of their little girl; she looked just like Destiny with very settle hints of Mathew, her hair had the unmistakable Buckingham curls.
Ten minutes later, the baby was fed and burped; Destiny walked over with her daughter in her arms and sat next to Stevie. Stevie turned and smiled at Destiny; she sat up so she could give Destiny all her attention.
"I know I already said this and I will forever tell you but, thank you." Destiny said. "Words cannot express how this moment makes me feel." Destiny's voice was filled with emotions and more tears made their way down her cheeks.
Stevie hugged her daughter and just held her.
Destiny wiped her tears and then said. "Would you like to carry your granddaughter for a while?"
Stevie smiled and said, her voice sounding stronger. "Of course."
