The weather was turning colder but not cold enough that we couldn't wear hoodies. I knew at some point; winter would be upon us. Our finals, along with the jazz that followed. With fall also comes a friendly game of football. This time it was the guys playing while the girls cheered us on.
We had no issue with the girls playing, but we had our reasons while facing each other. It was us junior guys against the old-timers. Plus, things would get rough. That means that all the aggression that builds between them and us was about to emerge big time.
On our side was RJ, Austin, Nik, JJ, Shawn, Leo, and me. Junior, Elijah, Matt, Drew, Angelo, Xavier, and Zane was on the other team. Frisco and Hunter played referees to make sure we didn't kill each other.
We all got into formation and Drew looked at me. "You're going down."
"Ooh, big words for a little man. Bring it on, old-timer," I retorted.
"I guess we'll see who's the better brother at football," Junior mentioned looking at Austin and Nik.
"Oh, blow me, you over the hill, pain in the ass," Austin remarked.
"Just for that, you're going down, you punk ass bitch," Junior warned.
"Not if you go down first," Nik smirked.
"Big talk for a little man," Elijah told Nik.
"I wouldn't be speaking so soon, brother, I'm about to send you crying back to Mom," JJ threatened.
"Dream on," said Matt.
"Really? That's all you got? Your smack talk is as bad as your playing is," RJ told Matt.
"That's it; you're fucking going down, you little shit," Matt warned RJ.
"Ooh gigantic man, small dick. Overcompensation much?" RJ asked with a smirk. We all stood up and looked at RJ incredulously. "What? Too much?"
"Just a little, buddy. Want to tone it down?" I asked.
"All right, fine," RJ grumbled.
"Jesus, you talk smack, not dick size," Drew exclaimed.
"Yeah, ain't nobody got time for that," Xavier mocked.
We all looked at him as Angelo smacked him upside the back of the head. "What the fuck is wrong with you?"
"What? It was funny," Xavier countered.
Angelo shook his head.
"Are you girls ready to play ball, or are you going to stand there, arguing all day?" Hunter yelled.
"Hey! Don't insult us because those idiots can't get their shit together and play football!" Mack yelled.
We all looked at her.
"Well," Mack asked with an annoyed look.
Finally, Hunter blew the whistle, and we put the ball in play. Well, that was after we tackled each other. After that, the game got brutal as we addressed each other while running the ball, but we gave as good as we arrived.
Mel looked at Liz. "Is football always this brutal when they play?"
"Only when they face off. Trust me, when our parents play, it's usually not as bad," Liz reassured Mel.
Then there was a collective, "Ooh," from the girls.
"I don't think a person should bend in that position," Davina said, pointing to Nik.
"I think Matt kills RJ before this game is over," Scarlett mentioned with a shocked look.
"I'm pretty sure Elijah eats grass a lot more," Lydia said.
