Jay's POV

I stare at the door Alex just left out of. He was my best friend! I haven't seen him in a month and he decides to literally ignore me! What the hell? Ed's constantly blabbing but I ignore him and focus on why Alex won't talk to me.

"Could you shut the hell up?" I yell at Ed and he silently closes his mouth looking away from me. I smile at the fact that I still have power over him even though I've been gone all this time. Then a thought hits me.

"If you and Alex were werewolves, why didn't you tell me?" I ask Ed in an annoyed voice. I'm mainly annoyed because of this idiots constant talking but I'm also ticked about Alex. Ed looks away and sighs.

"It's complicated. We didn't know that you were a wolf so we couldn't tell you. Sorry, but that's the rules." Ed explains. I nod my head and sigh.

"Jason. Honey I didn't know you had friends." Mom beamed walking up to Ed and I.

"If that's even what you'd call us..." I mumbled. "Mom this is Ed. Ed, that's my actual mother." I introduced not really in the mood to say anything else. I barry my head in my hands and sigh. I hate my life.

Alex's POV

It's been about a month since I've last seen him. A month! For all I knew Jay was a goner. I thought he was murdered, but since he still lives at the orphanage they didn't care to report it. Harsh, yes. Then he shows up and the Alpha of some pack claims that Jay is his son! What? Last time I check Jay was an orphan! And what's with the other name people called him by? Umm.... Jason? That's not his name! I've known Jay my whole life so I should know that this is cr*p.

"Alex!" My adopter calls out to me. I turn around to face my adoptive father, James. I never got around to introducing Jay and James but whatever. Ed obviously knows about James because he turned to me when Jay disappeared. James is a single guy who lost his mate a year ago when rogue's attacked. He needed company so he adopted me because apparently I remind him of his mate. Weird.

"Yes James?" I ask him. He comes to a stop in front of me. He's tall and had jet black hair or at least had black hair till the gray intruded his hair. His brown eyes are filled with authority although there is a hint of sadness in his eyes that never goes away. I feel for the guy and all but he seriously has to move on.

"Do you know that boy?" James asks and I open my mouth to say 'no' when James speaks  up again. "I can read your mind so don't lie to me." Shoot. I hate it when I realize everyone (Werewolves only) can read my mind...

"He was my friend at the orphanage. Then he disappeared. There's nothing more to explain." I shrug. Honestly, I don't know what else to say. Jay and I were like brothers. We grew up together, we did insane things together, we even egged the orphanage one day out of pure boredom together! Heck besides this last month I can't remember a time when Jay wasn't there for me.

"Come on Alex. There has to be something deeper than that, why else would you storm out?" James questions. I hate it when he goes all sappy on me! I know from experience that if I want him to leave me alone I have to confide information to him.
