Me, Princess, and Marge walked in the aisle where the frozen treats and foods were. We had no idea where the guys were but that was kind of the point.
Basically, the game was Tag. The two teams-- which was the guys vs. the girls-- split up and try to get away from each other as much as possible. Then, we all had our timers synchronized and set it to countdown from 5 minutes. Once, the timer ended, we go try to look for the other team and tag them out.
Once you've been tagged, you're out and you'd have to stay in the spot where we agreed on before we started.
The last person standing wins for his or her team and the losing team buys the winners' dinner.
We all agreed to play it when Princess mentioned the part where the winning team gets to have free food.
Which, confirmed my theory. Bribe us with food and we'll do whatever. As long as it was legal and wouldn't get us killed.
The timer on Princess's phone was down to a minute and thirty seconds.
"So, what's the plan?" I asked.
"First, we find them. Then we tag them. Then we win." Princess sounded determined.
"Okay, and if that doesn't work?"
"We go buy them dinner."
I bit my lip. I wasn't planning on spending my money tonight.
There were questions floating around my head too but I didn't want to ask. Probably because I knew the answers to it. Questions like, what happens when a Walmart employee stops us or catches us?
We'll probably get kicked out.
What happens when we break something accidentally?
We'll probably have to pay for it and get banned from this store for a year.
But, I didn't think any of those would happen but if they did, then fine. We'd face our consequences.
When the timer stopped at zero, we started acting like secret agents. We hid on aisles while turning our heads left and right as we looked for Maven and Phillip. Everytime we saw an employee, we pretended like we were just looking at their products. Even going as far as having a fake conversations like:
Princess grabbed a can of tomato sauce. "Did mom say she wanted a can of tomato sauce?"
And I would answer, "Yeah. She said she needed it to complete her love potion."
And one time, our good friend Princess even taught us some Filipino words she learned from her Filipino friend.
When another employee came on the aisle we were on, Princess would start, "Bababa ba?"
Which, according to Princess meant, are you going down?
I couldn't say it because I was dying just trying not to laugh. So Marge answered, "Bababa."
Which meant, going down.
But, the employee wouldn't know that since he wasn't Filipino. All he knew for sure was that we were teenagers speaking a different language. I hoped that's what he thought because he didn't even give us a glance until we finally carefully changed aisles.
I didn't know how long it took but we finally spotted Maven. Just Maven.
He was at the poultry area. We didn't show ourselves yet and decided to use the element of surprise.
"What are you doing?" Somebody whispered behind me. Princess left to try and tag Maven out. She'll try to get him to run here then me and Marge could block him or tag him out too.
