Hayes Grier

"Happy Birthday!" Me and Nash shouted into the phone once it was picked up.

"Reese is with Sage." Devon's voice came through the speaker.

"Oh, well give him the phone." Nash said.

"Yeah, hang on," she said and then shuffling was heard. "Reese, phone!" She shouted.

"Hang on!" A faint shout was heard.

"Here, I got Sage." Devon said.

"Hello?" Reese's voice came through the speaker.

"Happy birthday!" Me and Nash shout, again.

Reese laughed, "Thanks boys."

"What is our twenty-four year old up to today?" I said.

"Don't be jealous that your only seventeen little Grier." Reese said. "And same old same old, I got to get to work in an hour."

"Nothing special?" Nash questioned.

"No, I got a child, I can't party every night." Reese laughed. "Plus I went to a party last night, which was difficult to leave because of Dev'."

"Of course." I laugh.

"Hey, hang on." Reese said and then shuffling and a door being close was heard. "You guys still up for her coming out there?"

"Yeah, of course." Nash said.

"But it's Dev' she will never come here with you and Sage there and all." I say.

"Yeah, I know." Reese sighed. "For her birthday I was thinking of flying her out there to see you guys."

"Why now?" Nash asked. "I'm not saying it's a bad idea, it's just all of a sudden."

"Recently, I've realized how much she does and has done, I don't want her to stay here until she realizes how much more there is for her. You know?" Reese explained.

"We understand Ree', when were you thinking?" I ask.

"Well her birthday is next month, I was thinking about flying her out there for about two months, three tops?" Reese said.

"When do you want to fly her out?" Nash asked.

"Thursday, maybe?" Reese suggested.

"Sounds great, we will book a flight." Nash says. "We can book her flight back when the time comes."

"No no, you guys I can pay for the ticket." Reese said.

"Reese, don't be stupid, we got it." I said.

"No seriously, I have some money save-"

"Reese stop, we got it." Nash said. "We will book the flight, just talk to Devon because we all know how stubborn she is."

Reese sighed, "Fine, I'll go talk to her after work. And speaking of work I have to go or I'll be late."

"Okay buddy, happy birthday." I say.

"Happy birthday, we will send you the details on the flight." Nash said.

"Alright, thanks."

Devon Devereaux

"Okay, I'm heading out." Reese said as he grabbed his keys from the coffee table.

"Okay, please come home when your shift is over; not drunk or high five hours after your shift." I said looking back at him.

"Yeah yeah," he said grabbing a water from the fridge. "Do you got any cash, need gas money."

"Yeah, in my drawer, should be a ten." I said.

He disappeared into my room then walked out. "Alright, bye." He waved at me. He leaned down and kissed Sage's forehead. "Your getting Cole, right?"

"Yeah, I'll see if I can borrow Jai's truck." I said and he opened the front door.

"Alright, bye." He said and walked out.

I soon heard the truck start and then drive off.
