Devon Devereaux
The side of my head was resting on the palm of my hand while my elbow was against where the window met the car door as I had my other hand on the wheel. The car ride home from the police station was silent, violently silent. We left Reese in a cell for three days and four nights. For two reasons, we didn't have money to get him out and two in hope he would know what he did wrong.
Pulling up to the trailer and parking in the trucks normal spot he sat there as I got out at slammed the car door shut, hard. I was still as pissed at him as I was when I found out. "Daddy!" Sage yelled running up to him as soon as he hopped down from the passenger seat. Jai and Luke following behind her but at a walking pace. She ran up to him and jumped into his arms with a big smile on her face. Reese had one too. He set her down and kneeled to be the same height as her. "I missed you, where you go?"She asked. "You left with out telling me." She pouted.
"I'm sorry, baby. I had to go stay with a friend who needed my help." He lied to her. She nodded.
"Sage, honey, I need to talk to daddy, go play okay?" I told her with a smile. She nodded quickly smiling.
"Luke," she looked up at him. He already knew she was gonna ask to play with her.
"Of course, but only of I'm the princess this time." He said walking back to where they were holding her hand.
Once they were our of earshot Reese spoke. "Dev', I'm so sorry. I know I fucked up." He started. "I was doing really good, I swear. It was rough when you first left then I was good then I had a beer then a few more just with the boys, they were watching me. Th-"
"Reese, stop it. I don't want excuses." I snapped at him, he shut right up and listened. "I only agreed to go to LA because I was promised that you won't fuck up, I knew it was to good to be true. I hope it was worth it." I said surprising calm and went inside shutting the door quietly behind me.

I fixed my black tank top in the mirror then tied my hair up in a messy ponytail. I grabbed my chapstick shoving it into the back pocket of my blacks jeans. I picked my phone up which was next to the sink and opened my text messages with Nash sending him a quick thank you for sending me money to bail Reese out and telling him I'll pay him back along with the plane tickets.
Sliding my phone into my back pocket and opening the bathroom door, I sighed. "Cole!" I shouted as I tighten my pony tail some more.
"Yeah?" He called out from the kitchen, the same way I was going.
"Your standing home tonight? Correct?" I looked at him raising a brow.
"Correct, ma'am." He stood up straight and saluted me with a smile.
"Okay, smart ass." I rolled my eyes. "Ree', gets off normal time. Let me know if he doesn't come home."
"Just talk to him." Cole sighed.
"My shifted isn't over till three. See you in the morning, make sure Sage gets to bed." I said grabbing the keys. "Bye baby, I'll see you in the morning." I kissed Sage's head then left.
"You leaving?" Tucker shouted from the tree. I nodded and waved bye right before I hopped into the truck. I sent my phone in the cup holder and headed down the dirt road towards the exit of our little, crappy community. Before I turned out onto the main road my phone started ringing with a FaceTime call from Hayes.
I answered sending it on the dash so he could see me. "Hey." I anwsered and turned out to the main road.
"Where you going?" He asked confused. I glanced at him, noticing he had headphones in.
"I picked up some shifts at the bar." I told him.
"You don't have to pay us back, Dev." Hayes sighed.
"I didn't pick up shifts just to pay you boys back, with Reese's shit and me being gonna money became tighter than it all ready was." I explained. "Our power was about to be shut off when I got back. But of course I couldn't work a deal out in time because I was in LA."
"We can help, you know we will help." Hayes said.
"No way." I shook my head. "Who you with?" I asked changing the subject since I heard voices in the background and he had his headphones in.
"Uh," he looked up at them. "Just the boys." He shrugged.
"Skate's there, huh?" He didn't say anything.
"Why do you call," he cleared his throat. "Why do you say that instead of what you use to say?" He asked referring to why I said Skate when I use to say Nate.
"Because Skate is the one that," I searched for the right words. "Broke my heart, I guess."
"You know it wasn't meant to be taken that way." He said.
I pulled into the bar parking lot. "That's why he said, huh?" I turned the truck off. "Plus weren't you and Blue the ones warning me about him." I rolled my eyes. Before he could answer I said I had to go and that is call him later.
Hayes Grier
"I got to go, Hayes, talk to you later." She said and hung up quickly. I sighed pulling my headphones out and hearing Nate and Derek's conversation.
"-she just left, I don't fucking understand." Nate grunted, pulling at his hair.
"Maybe she left because you called her a fucking gold digger, Skate." I stood up. "But don't flatter yourself, she didn't leave LA because of you." I scoffed and left the room.
