Chapter Four
The next morning I woke up to yelling.
That definitely wasn't plesant to wake up to.
I rolled over and put the pillow on my head trying to block it out and get some more sleep.
"Wow I have never heard mom and dad argue like that." said Jennifer coming into my room.
I removed the pillow from my head and sat up.
"Yeah I know." I said.
The yelling got louder.
"Stay here Jen." I said and stood up.
"What? No." said Jennifer and she grabbed my hand.
I sighed.
"Okay.Fine." I said and I graabed my phone off the bedside table and put it in my pocket.
Jennifer took my hand and we headed out of my room and down the stairs
Half way down the stairs I saw dad run out the front door and slam it.
Jennifer and I started running down the stairs.
We headed into the kitchen where we knew our mom would be.
"What's going on?" I asked.
My mom looked at us but didn't say anything.
I couldn't even read the expression on my mom's face.
Jennifer gripped my hand tighter.
"Mom tell me what's going on." I said.
She sighed.
"Mama?" Jennifer sqeaked out.
"Honey's...your dad and I are are getting a divorce." my mom pratically whispered.
Those nine words echoed in my head.
Jennifer dropped to her knees and tears poured out of her eyes.
Isat down on the floor and put my arm around her and pulled her into a hug.
"Honey calm down we will get throught is." my mom said and took as step forward closing the gap and putting her hand on jennifer's shoulder.
Jennifer moved her shoulder away from our mom but she didn't move out of my grasp.
She shook violently in my arms and I held her close.
Removing one arm from around her and holding her tighter with the other I pulled my cell phone out of my pocket and flipped it open.
"What are you doing?" our mom asked.
"Stand up a second Jen." I said to my little sister.
She got off my lap and sat on the floor.
I stood up and dialed our dad's number.
"I'm calling dad." I said to her.
I then reached my hand out out to Jennifer.
Jennifer took it and stood up.
" I don't think that's such a good idea right now." our mom said.
"He is still our dad." I snapped and me and Jennifer ran upstairs to my room.
Once inside my room I locked the door.
I dialed my dads number and put the cell phone on speaker.
Then me and Jennifer
"Hello baby girl." my dad answered on the second ring.
"Hey dad me and Jennifer really need you right now." I said.
"Y-eee-s d-d-addy." Jennifer managed to choke out.
"You're on speaker by the way." I said.
He laughed.
"I've noticed." he said.
"I don't think yalls mom would like it if you saw me right now." he said.
"But I don't care if mom likes it or not. You are our dad and that won't ever change. Me and Jen have a right to see you." I said.
"Yes sweethearts I am your dad and no matter what happens I will always love yall." he said.
"Daddy pl-eee-a-se c-c-ome ge-ee-t us." Jennifer managed to say.
"I would love to see you girls but..." I cut him off.
"Dad mom told us what's going to happen and you should know me and Jen are closer to you and right now we wanna see you what don't care what the consequences are." I said.
"Y-eeee-ah." Jennifer said.
"What exactly did your mom tell yall?" our dad asked.
Jennifer started crying again.
"Calm down baby girl." dad said to Jennifer.
"She told us yall are...not gonna be together anymore. But she didn't tell us who made the decision." I said.
Dad sighed.
"It was your mother's decision." our dad said.
"Why d-aaad-y?" Jennifer asked.
"I'm gonna come see you girls right now." our dad said and hung up.
Jennifer threw herself into my lay and clung to me in a hug.
I rubbed her back.
"I love you sis." I said to her.
"I l-ooo-v-e y-ooo-u too." she said.
I hugged her back and continues rubbing her back.
