Chapter Twenty

I went downstairs and into the den and sat on the couch and waited for Daniel.

A minute or so later he came downstairs in a navy t-shirt.

"Who is Cahndler?" he asked me.

"Huh?" I said caught off guard.

"You dropped your cell phone upstairs and you got a text from some guy names Chandler." said Daniel.

"That guy is my friend." I said.

"Okay and when were you gonna tell me you had a guy friend?" daniel asked.

"Do you have a problem with me having a guy friend?" I asked.

"No I have a problem with you not telling me about him." said Daniel.

"I just told you about him." I said.

"No until I asked you about him." said Daniel.

"You know it amazes me how you can let jealousy get a tight hold on you to where your lashing out at me when I have been through enough pain lately!" I screamed.

Jennifer ran downstairs.

"What's going on?" she asked me.

"Jen this is between me and your sister." said daniel.

I felt tears falling down my face and I wanted to cling to my sister in a hug but instead I nodded.

"I will talk to you later jen." I said.

She looked at me confused.

"Go on. I will talk to you later." I said again.

Jennifer stared a minute more but then ran upstairs to her room.

"I am not trying to hurt you Sadie. I just want answers." said Daniel.

"Then ask me questions." I said.

Daniel sat down at the other end of the couch.

"Wow. You can't even sit next to your girlfriend." I said.

"Not until I know for sure she can be trusted." said daniel.

"I know you didn't just say that to me. You use to be so secure in our relationship and now because I have a friend you think that mean I am gonna cheat on you?" I said.

"Well before you didn't hide anything from me. You told me everything as soon as you could." said Daniel.

"Ask me questions." I said through gritted teeth.

"When did you meet him?" daniel asked.

"Today. I walked to the store to calm down because I was upset with Jen." I said.

"Okay what happened after yall met?" daniel asked.

"When I walked in the store he could tell I had been crying. He asked me what was wrong and I told him about my sister and my parents. I found out his parents ended their relationship six months ago. He knows what I am going through and he is a great friend to talk to." I said.

"So he knew all of this before me your boyfriend did. Wow." said Daniel.

"Oh my gosh! Stop this! I am dealing with enough!" I screamed.

"Stop what? Our relationship? If that's what you want fine." said Daniel and he stood up.

"No. Stop yelling at me." I said.

"Well start acting like I am your boyfriend." said Daniel.

"I tried to hug you and you wouldn't let me. If anything your aren't acting like you're my boyfriend." I said.

"Why did yall have to exchange numbers? Why couldn't yall just talk today and when you see him at the store and that's it?" Daniel asked me.

"I met someone who knows what I am going through because they have been through it. As much as you might care about me you have no idea what I am going through. You should be happy I found a friend that understands me." I said.

"Why is your hair purple?" Daniel asked me.

"What?" I asked caught off guard.

"Your hair is purple. Why?" Daniel asked yet again.

"I heard you the first time. You just caught me off guard." I said.

"So why is it?" Daniel asked me.

"It was an attempt as gettin my mom and dad to talk to each other then maybe get back together." I said and shrugged.

"You are such a dreamer Sadie. Your mom is pretty set on all of her decisions." said daniel.

"Wait a minute. I never told you that it was my moms idea. How did you know?" I asked Daniel.

"I can tell your dad is head over heels in love with your mom. So it was obvious that it was your moms decison." said Daniel.

"You called me a dreamer. What you think I have no grip on reality?" I asked him.

"I know that you don't have much of a grip on reality. I use to think it was cute but now it's just crazy. Like your hair." said Daniel.

"I know whats going on in my reality and it kills me and so what if I like daydreaming better than my life right now. You don't have a clue what it felt like when mom told us she was ending her relationship with dad." I said.

"Can you not even say the word divorce?" Daniel asked me.

"No I can't okay. You know what why don't you just leave before I say things to you that I don't mean and can't take back." I said to him and I ran upstairs to my room.

Once inside my room I slammed the door and sat against my door with my knees pulled to my chest.

The tears started and wouldn't stop.

How could he make things worse for me?

Did he have a heart?

Why is he so jealous acting all of a sudden?

Will we stay together?

Will he make me chose between having Chandler as a friend or him as a boyfriend?

Would Danile and I stay friend if we broke up?

Would I be able to be his friend if we broke up?

I must have fallen asleep on the floor because I woke up to getting hit with the door.

I sat up and rubbeb my eyes.

"I thought I locked it." I said rubbing my eyes.

I wasn't mad she had come in my room though.

She pulled a bobby pin out of her hair and showed it to me then put it back in her hair.

I laughed and sat up.

"Are you and Daniel still together?" Jennifer asked.

"Wow you don't beat around the bush." I said with a laugh.

"So are yall?" Jennifer asked.

"Yes." I said.

"What was going on with yall?" Jennifer asked.

"Let's go sit on the bed and I will tell you everything." I said and I stood up and took her hand and we walked over to my bed.

We got comfotable and I started talking.
