Chapter Twenty One
"I think it's aswesome you met a guy whose been through what we're going through." said Jennifer once I had finished telling her everything.
"Me too but Daniel doesn't like it." I said.
"You know I've never heard you yell at Daniel before." said.
"Well I have been through enough lately and then him going into a jealous rampage...I was just like enough is enough." I said.
Jennifer nodded.
"You know I wish I'd had known that you were acting. It would have taught me to be independant." I said.
"I'm sorry. I didn't want to deprive you of feeling needed. I mean I still need you not but not as much as I lead you to believe. I need you to talk to about boys or in my case boy..." Jennifer stopped and laughed.
"You and Jeremy are adorable. Did you see him today?" I asked.
"I saw him go get the mail when I looked out the window." said Jennifer.
"Oh so you're spying on him now." I said.
"No. I just looked out the window to see what the weather was like." said Jennifer.
"Uh-huh sure." I said and pushed her playfully.
"For real. I didn't even wave because I didn't want him to think I was watching him." said Jennifer.
"Girl you aren't desperate so why are you so scared to look like it? Don't worry sis." I said and put my arm around her.
She laughed and leaned on me.
"So I take it you two aren't dating." i said.
"No we aren't." said Jennifer.
"Well if you don't think you're ready to have a boyfriend that's fine." I said.
"I think I am but...I am only ten..." said jennifer trailing off.
"Age isn't everything. You are mature for your age." I said.
"I know but...I don't know...I wanna be with him...but..." Jennifer trailed off.
"If you're going by what I said about me it isn't written in stone that you have to be twelve to date. Girl now a days toddlers have a girlfriend or boyfriend." I said with a laugh.
Jennifer laughed.
"So are you not gonna go over there? I know you miss him. He lives right next door you know." I said.
"I want him to come see me. He was probably just busy today." said Jennifer.
Then my cell phone rang.
I pulled my phone out of my pocket.
It was mom.
I answered it.
"I'm sorry." I said to her.
"Oh sweetheart..." mom trailed off.
"I have been a brat about this and I am not gonna be mad ast you anymore." I said.
I looked at my alarm clock.
It was eleven at night.
"Mom it's late where are you?" I asked her.
"I am at Kylie's she said I could spend the night but.." I cut mom off.
"You should stay there. I know you haven't seen Kylie in a while. Yall should have a girls night in." i said with a laugh.
"Are you sure? You won't be mad if I stay?" mom asked.
"Of course not me and Jennifer will have a girl's nigh in ourselves." I said.
"Can I talk to Jen?" mom asked.
"Sure." I said and I handed Jennifer the phone.
"Hey mama." said Jennifer.
"I'm going downstairs." I whispered to her.
She nodded and I left the room.
