Love will find a way through paths where wolves fear to prey. ~ Lord Byron ~

Kaarina found it hard to believe she had went three days without Achilles. It felt so strange and even now she was suffering withdrawal symptoms. He really was a drug.

She had messed up an additional ten dishes that day than the day before and no one was happy. She was losing her game. Big time. She couldn't help that every time she heard a phone ring, it would be Achilles. Why she thought that was beyond her. She should have known Achilles would respect her wishes. At least she didn't get that wrong.

Making her way to the bus stop, she tried not to think too hard about the limousine in the parking lot. Every night since she and Achilles "took a break" it had been there. She didn't know when it came or really when it left. She just knew she only saw it when she got off from work. And it remained there when she got on the bus.

It must have been Achilles. No one else would really care about her this time to find her way home. There was the bus and cabs. It was New York for crying out loud!

But she couldn't stop herself from thinking he was in there. And if he wasn't, would the leather smell like him? She shook her head. She couldn't be so pathetic.

Soon after they found out that the bus had broken down but would be ready in the next two hours. She sighed turning to look at the limousine. She was curious and wanted to know. Badly enough that she found herself walking up to the limousine before she knew it. She internally chastised herself. Bad move, bad move, Bad move.

Just before she was directly at the vehicle, a man in the suit, most likely the chauffeur, came out to open the passenger door. Her steps faltered as she looked behind her at the increasing crowd. She turned back to the chauffeur.

"Good night," she said and he nodded. "Who set you up to this?"

"Mr. Vittorio, ma'am," Kaarina nodded, the chauffeur confirming her thoughts. Against her better judgment, like calling a cab, she went inside the limo. Her heart picked up speed when he shut the door, but she looked around to realize she was the only one inside this large and comfortable space. But she could smell him. It was faint yet still there. Her heart soared. How could he have such a great effect on her and he wasn't even there?

She sank into the soft leather seats that conformed to her form as she looked out at the passing lights, vehicles, buildings and people. It was all just a blur as she felt her eyelids close.

Too soon to be okay, she was awoken by the rough voice of the chauffeur.

"Miss Kaleb?" He inquired as he slightly prodded her arm. She got up and he handed her a handkerchief. She looked down at the handkerchief he handed her with  "You have drool at the side of your side."

Embarrassed, Kaarina flushed while she wiped the still wet drool off her face. This was literally the first time this had happen to her. She did admit that going home around three early that morning and working straight through the day with only a granular bar for breakfast. Her mother was still at her uncle's so she was out of the loop that she and Achilles had broken up and couldn't be there to force her to eat. It was a bad and good thing in and out of itself.

She didn't have the constant insistence of her mother to know every detail. Details she didn't want to think about. She could really see why Achilles hadn't told her about his mother. That was a pretty sick childhood. One she wouldn't wish on anyone. No wonder he kept so much to himself. No doubt he probably had to get professional help in order for him to be over it. Although not completely, but at least he wasn't dwelling on it and got really angry at him. He was able to treat it just as something in his past without any specific emotions toward it in a sense. That must have taken some professional help. Kaarina couldn't imagine the same boy she saw so long ago that summer was or would be going through all that. She didn't exactly know anything much about it besides from what she gathered from Kate and Achilles which wasn't much at all.
