Chapter 8:

Songs for this chapter- 7 things by Miley Cyrus

Harry's POV

The alarm begins to sound loudly and then I realize that it's time to get up and head out for another day of work. We were finally back in New York, so my mother wanted me to stay the night at her house instead of going back to my own place. Gemma had come to spend the evening with us the night before and decided that she was going to stay the night as well.

"Harry! Mom and I made breakfast," She calls.

I roll over and rub my eyes. I ruffle my curls out and then sit up in bed. I toss a T shirt over my previously exposed torso and waddle across the cool hardwood floor. I strech a little bit and then yawn loudly.

"Good morning son, what do you have planned for today?' My mother asks me as soon as I walk into the kitchen.

"Going to go to the studio and make plans for our tour," I reply to her. She hands me a mug of coffee and then I lazily sit down at the small table.

"So you won't have time to come and spend with Gemma and I?' She questions with a small pout.

"I'm off for the next week and then boys and I are going to do some television preformances," I inform her.

"So glad to hear that. Can we go shopping tomorrow?' She asks as she shuffles around the kitchen.

"Sure," I say giving her a small smile.

Breakfast with my mother and my sister was pleasant but they had gotten a little sad when I told them that I needed to head out. I took a short shower and styled my hair. I rubbed the bridge between my nose and took my car keys off of the coffee table. Then I was out, telling my mother and Gemma goodbye as I shut the front door behind me.

We were suppose to be meeting with our new manager. Cory Stall was his name and he seemed really nice the first time I had spoke with him. He would be helping us organize our 'Where We Are' tour as well as making sure rehearsals were going well. I wasn't mentally ready for this quite yet. After my awkward date with Taylor I wasn't really feeling up to anything.

"What's the matter Mr. Mopey," Zayn asks as soon as I plop down in the chair next to him.

"Not much. I just don't feel like myself," I sigh.

"Don't stress,' Is all he says and then pats me on the back.

"Where is everyone?" I ask him.

"Louis, Liam, and Niall all went down to the lobby to get coffee with Cory. He's great Harry. Wait till you meet this guy!" Zayn tells me.

Not a minute later do the three boys and appear in the room with another man. He looked not much older than us and he was dressed in a business get up. He seemed familiar but I couldn't place my finger on it.

"Hello Harry," Niall is the first to greet me due to the fact that all the other boys were laughing so hard tears were coming to their eyes.

"Hey Ni," I return the greeting and then everyone's attention was on me.

"Harry, this is our manager Cory," Louis introduces us.

"Pleasure," Cory says.

"Same," I reply and then clear my throat.

It gets quiet for a moment and then they all go back to laughing at what Cory had to say. I was to busy thinking about Taylor to be apart of whatever the hell this was. It had been a week and it was eating me up inside. She had just left it as rebuilding, and I couldn't take it.

"Are you alright mate?' Liam asks me, breaking my train of thought.

"Yeah," I reply shaking my head a little.

"Are you still thinking about her?' Zayn asks.

"I would like to say no but then I'd be lying," Was my final answer.

"Girl troubles? Well I have just the solution. You, me, and a glass of Brandy after rehearsals," Cory's voice booms.

"Why the hell not," I say with a shrug.

"So you're telling me that these past eight years have been like that?' Cory asks and then slams the rest of his drink.

"Yeah and now I'm trying to win her back," I reply. I then order another glass of what I had been drinking before.

Cory had taken me to a country club style bar. It was mostly business men and slutty waitresses. I didn't mind it though, the place was fancy.

"Sounds like a rough time. We've all bee through shit though," He says and laughs a cynical laugh.

"What would your shit be? I've come clean. Now it's your turn," I say.

"Her name was Irene. She was the love of my life. But she died last year," He tells me and then sips on his new drink.

"Sorry to hear that..How long had you been together?' I ask.

"Four years. But then she had gotten into drugs. It was all my fault really. I mean if I wouldn't have gone to war then maybe she would have stayed sober," His voice cracks slightly.

"How long were you gone?' I question.

"About a year and a half. Then I came home and found her like this. I took her to counciling and therapy," He explains.

"Have you been in a relationship since?" I ask.

"Nope, but just the other day I met this amazing girl. Her and I had met in an elevator and then it just sparked. I feel a real connection with her man," He says and a small smirk plays on his lips.

"I hope it all works out for you Cory. You still have a chance at finding someone else. I am too hung up on my honey and I might be sad if I never end up with her. Sad really, I shouldn't be asking for pity," I say and chuckle lightly.

"As some wise person once said, saying you can't be sad because someone has it worse is like saying you can't be happy because someone has it better," He recites.

It then becomes silent and I down the last of my drink. I think Cory and I were going to get along very well.

Sorry it's short but I hoped you guys liked it! Thanks for reading and votes or comments would be lovely. Spring Break started yesterday so I hope to get in a few extra updates before I have to return to school...
