Chapter 18:
Harry's POV
I take caution and keep my guard up as I enter the lounge. A place of many memories, good and bad. I can't help but shake as my hand pulls open the door. The place has gone down hill since I was in here last. The teenage demographic has gone down and all that dwells here now is adults with no life. There is no one on stage like I am use to seeing. In fact the stage is completelty curtained off.
I remember the times I had to hide my singing identity from Taylor. I also remember the time we kissed when we both had gotten drunk for her birthday. When I realized that there was no turning back. I was rooted in her and there was for sure no escape. So many memories were back in my head, all vivid as if they had happened yesterday. This was one of the places that was bittersweet.
"You looking for something?" Someone asks me. I bet they could tell by the way I scanned the crowd.
"I'm just meeting someone here," I half lie. I was meeting my father, but I was also soaking in all that i had been missing.
"Anyone in particular. We have so many regulars. But the most respected one is JC," He mentions.
"Oh I know him," I say nonchalantly.
"Wow. You know JC personally? Well you must be good. Have a seat and a drink,' The man offers.
"Thanks, but this meeting is sort of urgent," I reply and then clear my throat.
"Are you a dealer?" He asks.
"Not at all," I say.
"Are you a buyer? A nark? What's your deal messing with Jake?" His interrogation continues.
"I have a past is all. We haven't spoken in years. I just came here to meet with someone," I defend.
"You're awfully pretty to be involved with this crowd. But I guess you have tattoos," He examines me.
"Let's just say I have been in this area in a while," I say with a shrug.
Our conversation is interupted by a woman walking over. She looked to be in her fourties, not to much older than the man I was speaking to.
"Barney, I need your help,' She whines.
"Rosie what is it? I was talking to this nice young man,' He snaps.
"My son needs help," She mentions.
"what did he do this time?" He sighs.
"Jake cut his hand open," Was it the Jake she was talking about?
"Bring him out here and sit him on the barstool. Grab Ed and then we'll fix it," He shouts at her.
"Alright," She sniffles and then scurries away.
"I'll be right back. Sorry. I hope you find who you're looking for," He says and pats me on the back as he gets up.
I watch him as he walks to the other side of the room. I decide to blend in and take a seat at an empty table. It feels like an eternity until my dad decides to pop a seat next to me.
"Good to see you son," His face looked suken in and he seemed sad. '
"Dad," I say sternly.
"You wouldn't want me back into your life?' He asks waisting no time.
"Absolutely not. The way you treated my mother for years is unacceptable. I won't sit here and let you lie to me about how well you can take care of me and be apart of my life. I have given you too many chances," I scold.
