Chapter 15:

Taylor's POV

"Are you completely sure?" Ellie asks me,a pair of metal scissors in her hand.

"I said yes! You know how to cut hair. All of it off," I reply with sass.

"Ok. But I am only cutting it to your chin. No need to Miley Cyrus yourself on me," She teases.

I then wait for her to begin. She starts cutting the first piece and I watch it fall to the floor next to me. Good thing house keeping was coming tomorrow, they could get the hair that I miss when I clean up this mess. I close my eyes as she keeps going, lost in thought of what had happened yesterday.

*Flashback*

"So Irene had been acting really weird around the time I was leaving for the service,' He begins. We were both sitting on the curb now.

"Why did you go?" I ask as my voice cracks.

"I had to do it for my mom. She wasn't going to make it on her own so I thought giving her some of my benefits from the service might help. I just worried her sick. She got cancer a few months after I left," He explains.

"Oh I'm sorry. Not that an apology is going to help. Just know that I want to do my best to say that i feel some empathy for you," I ramble.

"it's fine. She's better now. But sadly Irene isn't. I shouldn't have left her alone for so long. I should have made her live with my mom. Her brother was trouble and I knew by letting her stay with him things wouldn't end too well," He blames himself.

"Why what happened with her brother?" I ask looking over at him.

"Well he was well into drugs, he's about two years older than me. He looks so old for his age. Anyway he called her a month or two before I left. I guess he had been talking with their mother. Her mother is quite a mess herself, and I mean that in the most respectful way as I can say it," He goes on.

"What was her reaction to Irene?' I ask. I felt like I was prying.

"She couldn't even look at me. She avoided me through the funeral and that was the last of her in my life. I still talk to her brother. He brought the last of her things to me a few weeks ago," He says and then his eyes make their way to the street.

We are both silent. I was just taking time to let what he said stew in my mind. I couldn't believe I was only moments away from breaking his heart. I know it wasn't my decision. I was becoming as insensitive to love like Harry. I was willling to ruin someone's happiness because I wasn't happy.

"Sometimes it's ok to let go, ya know," He tells me.

But before I could say one word I can hear Harry's boots stomp against the pavement. He is now standing infront of me. I give him a scowl as he hold my phone up infront of me.

"Really? Joe?" He barks.

"Oh my god not now," I huff.

"So you've been playing me with two other guys?" Harry asks, giving me a stern look.

"No and when is it your job to go snooping around?" I reply and stand on my feet.

"You left your phone in my jacket pocket from when I came over last night," I could tell he purposely said that infront of Cory.

"I'm sorry and if you must know I cut Joe off months ago and he still thinks we can make ourselves something and I wasn't ever officially dating you or Cory," I shout.
