Chapter 12

Kylie's POV:

You kept on walking, until you reached your locker. Your heart was beating fast and you were terrified of Justin. He could easily seduce you with his charm, and you couldn't allow that to happen. He looked so much like Drew, and that bugged you. You opened your locker and carelessly threw in your bag. You ran a hand through your hair, loosening the curls, which made them look messy. If you bumped into Justin again, you would panic. You took a deep breath. "Calm down Kylie, he won't hurt you. He won't do anything to you.." you told yourself. The reason why you were terrified of Justin was because you knew what he did to Drew. And you knew that he could easily trick you into doing anything, because you were an easy target. You didn't want anything to do with Justin. You took another deep breath and calmed yourself down. You felt slightly relaxed and started taking out your books. Suddenly a pair of hands covered your eyes, causing you to jump and let out a small shriek. "Guess who?"

Your whole body relaxed when you heard Drew's voice. You removed his hands from your eyes and turned around. He looked at you with a smile on his face. But his smile faded quickly when he saw your facial expression. "Hey, what's wrong? he asked, and put his hand over your cheek. You put your hand over his, and he caressed your cheek with his thumb. "What's wrong Kyls?"

Should you tell him? Or should you just act like it never happened and be as normal as possible? You shook your head. "No, nothing. I'm okay." Drew looked at you, and you couldn't read his facial expression. "Who hurt you?" he asked, in a tone you had never heard him speak in before. There was something about that tone, he sounded furious, hurt, sad and worried at the same time. And you tried to figure out how that was possible. "Nobody did anything, Drew let it go okay?" you begged, and put your hand on his arm. He looked directly into your eyes, and it was like his whole body relaxed, just by looking at you. He let out a breath. "Okay."

Drew's POV

You started walking to class, right next to Kylie's side. There was something that bothered her, but she refused to tell you what. She kept denying that there actually was something bothering her, and kept telling you there was nothing to worry about.

Kylie was an awful liar.

You had this strange feeling. As soon as you noticed something was wrong, your protective instinct kicked in. You felt like it was your duty to protect her. Like she was your heart and you were her armor. And that is was your duty to destroy anyone who tried to harm her. Just because she was your friend, your first true friend, you felt like you owed her your protection. It bugged you so much that she refused to tell you what was wrong.

As you were about to enter the classroom, you stopped her. "Kylie." you said, looking into her eyes. You took a step towards her, causing her back to hit the wall. She was stuck. "Kylie tell me what's wrong." It didn't come out as a request, but as a demand. Her eyes met yours and she bit her bottom lip. "Drew it's really nothing okay?"

You groaned in frustration. "Don't lie to me." you said, anger and frustration filling your voice. You never acted like this. You were always that kid that never opened his mouth, and never spoke a word. But you cared about this girl and felt like it was your duty to protect her. And when she was hurting, it killed you not knowing what caused it. "Just tell me Kylie. It can't be that bad." you said, with a soft and calm tone. "Please." you added. "Drew, it's really nothing. I'm fine, I'm just overreacting. It's nothing. Let it go okay?" She walked passed you and entered the classroom. You stood there, in a state of shock. Was she really being that stubborn? Then you remembered. This girl was stubborn as a donkey. "Damn it Kylie." you muttered and entered the classroom. You sat down next to her and a sigh escaped your lips. You moved close to her. You put your lips right next to her ear, and wrapped your arm around her waist. "I'm sorry." you whispered, and kissed her softly below her ear.

You had no idea why you did that. It just felt like it was the right thing to do. Showing her affection was your way of apologizing for being mad at her. She looked at you and laughed slightly. "What was that for?" she asked, with a small smile on her lips. You shrugged your shoulders. "That's my way of saying 'I'm sorry' " you answered her. "But you already said it." she said with a chuckle. A small smirk formed on your lips.

"Actions speak louder than words." you said, and pulled her closer to you, still with your arm wrapped around her waist.

The rest of the day went by quite fast. It wasn't exactly awkward between you and Kylie, since you only had the first class together. She sat next to you at lunch, like she usually does.

"So, what are your plans for the fourth?" she asked. You finished your drink and put down the juice bottle. "Since me and my brothers live by ourself we always throw together these big parties at national holidays. And the fourth isn't exactly an exception. So I'm gonna be at the party, having fun." Kylie nodded her head. "That sounds like so much fun."

You smiled at her. "You should come." you suggested. She looked at you. "Really?"

You nodded your head. "Of course."

After that you didn't really say much. An awkward silence appeared. "So.." she started. "Do you have any plans this summer?" You shook your head. "Not really what about you?"

Kylie lit up in a smile. "So in April I went to Coachella. It was my first time and I loved it!" You raised an eyebrow. "What the hell is Coachella?" you asked. She looked a you with her mouth slightly opened. "You don't know what Coachella is?"

You shook your head. "No, should I?" you chuckled. "Coachella is a music and arts festival." she explained. "Ooh.." you mumbled, feeling stupid for not knowing that.

"So this summer I'm gonna go to another festival, I just don't know which one yet." You nodded your head. "So your a festival girl huh?" She chuckled and shrugged her shoulder. "I guess."

You smiled a little. "Do you like concerts too?" you asked. Kylie nodded her head. "Yes! I wanna see Imagine Dragons, but I don't have anyone to go with." she sighed. You smiled at her.

"I'll go with you."

I bet you expected Kylie to tell Drew? Sorry to disappoint you. We'll just have to wait and see what happens. Anyhow isn't Drew like the sweetest guy ever?
