Chapter 16
Kylie's POV
You went to class, and took a seat in the back. People still looked at you, because to them you were still that "new girl". A sigh escaped your lips and you tucked a strand of hair behind your ear. You hadn't really made any friends here, except for Drew. There was a couple of girls who you talked to the first day, but they ditched you as soon as they found out that you talked to Drew.
Drew.
What had gotten into him? I mean, yes you're friends, and yes you're close friends. But all Justin ever did was hit on you. And that's it. It wasn't a big deal, you were just overreacting. And to be honest you were scared of falling for his charm. You drifted away in your thoughts, and felt someone hit your arm. You snapped out of your thoughts as the guy next to you nodded towards your teacher. Mr.Cahill stood there, with his arms crossed over his chest. "What?" you whispered. He pinched the bridge of his nose with his index finger and thumb. "Miss O'Connor. We're you listening to anything I said?" You shook your head. "No."
A sigh escaped his lips. "Okay, I'll take it all over again." Mr.Cahill started talking again. But you still didn't pay attention anything he said. You nodded your head, to show him that you were listening, and that made him pay attention to another student.
The classes passed by, and it was only one class left, until lunch. You hadn't seen Drew since this morning. Where the hell was he? Did he avoid you on purpose or what? A sigh escaped your lips, and you walked towards the classroom. You plugged in your headphones and shut the world out. You walked with your head down. And suddenly you bumped into someone. You prayed that it wasn't Justin this time, please anyone but not Justin. You looked up and met a pair of hazel eyes. The same eyes as Drew's and Justin. But this was neither Drew or Justin. "Oh, hi there Kylie." How did he know your name? And then you recognized him. It was Jason, he was in the picture with Drew and Derek, the one Drew had sent you on snapchat.
"H-Hi." you stuttered. "You okay?" he asked. You shook your head. "Have you seen Drew?" Jason shook his head. "No, I haven't.." he mumbled. You stood there awkwardly, and you felt people staring at you two. And that made you more uncomfortable. "What happened to him?" you asked, with your voice lowered. Jason raised an eyebrow."He didn't tell you?" he asked. You shook your head. "Or well.. He told me Justin was the one who had beaten him.." you started. "Was it because of me?" you asked. Jason looked at you. "Are you in a hurry?" he asked. You shook your head. "No." He nodded his head. "C'mere, I'll tell you, somewhere more private."
Jason grabbed your hand and dragged you to a separate room, you had never seen this room before. It wasn't exactly weird either, since you've only been here for a short time. He closed the door behind him, and locked it. "I don't want to share our family problems with the rest of the school you know." he said, smiling a little. You were still kind of uncomfortable, because Jason was a complete stranger to you. "Sit down." he said, gesturing toward a chair. You sat down, and Jason leaned agains the wall. He crossed his arms over his chest. All the McCann brothers were so alike. Especially Justin and Jason. They could be twins. Derek looked like a older version of Drew, and Drew looked like a younger version of Justin. It was fascinating how they could be so alike. "We all look alike huh?" he said, and chuckled. It was like he had read your mind.
You nodded your head. "Yes.. How is that possible?" Jason shrugged his shoulders. "I have no idea." he said. "So, the thing about Drew.." he started. "Justin told us that he had asked a girl out, and that she had rejected him. And he was so pissed about this the whole day." You nodded your head, to show him that you were listening. "Anyhow, we asked who the girl was, because no girl ever has rejected Justin." You bit your lip. "And he told us it was you. And Drew got furious and told him that it was his fault and everything. I don't know why he said that, cause I don't know what's going on between you two." You gulped and looked down on your hands. "Well.." you started, but he interrupted you. "You don't have to tell me, that's between you two. Anyhow, Justin was provoking Drew. Telling him shitloads of bullshit. And Drew lost it. He punched Justin, and then he fought back.." Jason said.
You sat there quietly. "But why did he do that?" you asked. Jason chuckled. "Kylie, Kylie, Kylie." he said. You looked up at him. "You don't get it do you?" he asked. You shook your head. "My brother cares about you, a lot. Even though you haven't known each other for a long time he really cares about you. You're the first one to notice him, give him your attention. You're the first one outside our family that cares. He doesn't want to lose that.."
You felt ashamed. Why didn't you think of that before. "Is that why he's so upset about me not telling him about Justin." Jason nodded his head. "He wants to protect you. And Justin isn't someone you should mess with." You just nodded your head. "So, please. Take good care of my brother okay? I've never seen him this happy. Whenever he talks about you, he gets all shy and he can't stop smiling." A smile formed on your lips. "Really?" Jason nodded his head. "Yes, now get out of here, before someone thinks I've kidnapped you." he said, and chuckle at his sentence. You stood up and moisturized your lips. "Thank you." you mumbled, before unlocking the door. You got out of the room and started walking towards your classroom.
You got in the classroom, and you were the first one to come in. As the other students filled the classroom, they all gave you weird looks as they walked pass you. "Someone saw her with Jason.. How much of a slut isn't she? First Drew, and Justin hit on her, and now Jason?" the girl whispered, but you heard every word. You tried to block her voice out, but you couldn't. "I don't even get why she gets their attention. I mean she's not even pretty." You bit your lip. Don't listen to them Kylie, don't.
"Why would the McCanns be interested in her anyways? I swear she's gonna try to steal Derek from Stella too." the girl said. Don't listen to her Kylie. "I bet she gave him a blowjob or something." The other girl giggled. "Ugh, probably."
When class was over, it was finally time for lunch. You quickly stood up as rushed out of the classroom. Tears were forming in your eyes, threatening to stream down your cheeks any second. "No, you can't cry. Not here." you whispered. You hurried to your locker, and you saw Drew standing there. You met his stare, and he instantly knew something was wrong. You looked directly into his eyes, and without saying a word, he opened his arms and pulled you into a hug. "What's wrong?" he whispered, as he held you tight. "I'm sorry." you whispered. "I'm so sorry."
