Chapter 17
Drew's POV:
It was impossible to stay mad at her when you held her in your arms, as she was crying. "Sch.. Kylie what's wrong?" you asked. But she didn't answer you, she just kept telling you how sorry she was. "Kylie, it's fine." you mumbled. She looked up at you and shook her head. "No." she whispered. "I should've.. Can we just.." she said, without finishing her sentence. "Can we what Kylie?" you asked.
"Get out of here? Skip school for the rest of the day? Please."
You couldn't say no. She was really upset, and if she wanted to get out of here, you would take her out of here. "Okay, wanna go right now?" you asked, and let go of her. She sobbed and nodded her head slightly. "Yes." she whispered.
"Let's go to my place, nobody's home anyways." you said, and wrapped your arm around her waist. You pulled her close to you, and walked towards the exit.
On the way home, there was a silence between you two. And this time it wasn't the peaceful kind of silence, it was the awkward one. A sigh escaped your lips. You wanted to ask her what was wrong, but figured it would be best to let her tell you instead. When she felt like telling you and when she was ready. "Are you okay?" you asked, and glanced down at her. She shook her head. "No." she whispered. And after that, you didn't say anything. You just kept walking, until you finally reached your house.
You pulled out the keys and let go of Kylie's waist, as you unlocked the door. You opened it, and walked in. And then it hit you, this was the first time Kylie was at your place. This was the first time she saw your home. "Uhm.. It's nothing special.." you mumbled. "Nothing compared to your house at least." She walked in and closed the door after her. "I like it." she said, and her eyes wandered around the hallway. She took her shoes off, and took a step forward, so she was standing right next to you. You grabbed her hand and walked her towards your room. Thankfully you weren't a messy person. So you didn't feel embarrassed when you opened the door to your room. You walked in and turned to Kylie. "Uh, yeah this is my room." you mumbled. She smiled at you. "It's very cosy."
You sat down on the bed, and grabbed Kylie's hands. She was still standing up, so you pulled her towards you. You intertwined your fingers and smiled slightly. "Now tell me, what happened?" you asked, looking directly into her eyes.
She sighed and looked down at the floor. "Hey, Kylie look at me." you mumbled. She looked up and softly caressed your hand with her thumb. "I talked to Jason.." she started. You raised an eyebrow, and you could feel your whole body tense. "Relax Drew, nothing happened." You sighed in relieve when she said that. "He told me what happened last night.."
You bit your lip. "Oh.."
A sigh escaped her lips. I'm so sorry he did that to you." You shrugged your shoulders. "It's fine, I'll survive." you mumbled. "But that can't be the reason why you were crying." you said. She shook her head, and squeezed your hands. "Kylie?"
She was still looking down, and you could tell that she was on the edge of crying again. You let go of her right hand. "Kylie." you said, and lifted up her chin with your thumb. "Tell me what's wrong?" you begged, and wiped away the tears that had escaped and fell down her cheek. "Come here." you said, and patted the spot next to you. She sat down next to you, and you wrapped your arms around her, pulling her to your chest. You leaned back against the wall and held her tight.
"Now tell me, what happened?"
Kylie's POV:
You leaned your head against his chest, and closed your eyes for a couple of seconds. "I talked to Jason, and when I went back to the classroom, these girls right next to me were whispering about me." you started. "They said that I was a slut. Because I hung out with you, and because Justin hit on me, and now that I walked away with Jason people think there's something going on between us two." You felt Drew hugging you tighter, he held you tight, like he kept you safe, like he sheltered you from harm. "They said that I probably gave Jason a blow job or something. And that they don't get why you McCanns pay attention to me. Because I'm not even pretty." The tears were burning again, and you couldn't hold them back. "And they said that I'd probably try to steal Derek from Stella.." you could barley talk. Your voice was shaking, and you had to stop after every second word, to catch your breath.
You were crying so hard. "Why are people so judgmental? Why do they jump into conclusions just like that?" you turned around so you were facing his chest. You hid your face agains his chest, because you didn't want him to see you cry. "Don't listen to them Kylie." he whispered, and rubbed your back, comforting you. "They're just jealous." he said. "And you're the most beautiful girl I've ever seen, so don't listen to them."
You sobbed lowly and wrapped your arms around him. You hugged him tight as you kept on crying. You just needed a good cry, and you needed it now. Drew didn't say a word, he knew it wasn't necessary. He just rubbed your back, and kissed your forehead. And that was enough for you to feel safe, to feel loved. You never wanted him to let go of you, and you certainly didn't want to let to of him. But it didn't take long until you were fully calm. You took a few deep breaths, and looked up at him.
"Thank you." you whispered. He just smiled at you and kissed your forehead. "Anything for you."
Drew's POV:
"Okay. So how about we lay in bed all day, and just watch a movie or something? To get your thoughts on something else." Kylie lit up in a smile. "Yes please." You nodded your head. "Okay, get up I need to get my laptop." she got up from your lap, and sat down on the bed instead. You stood up, walked to your desk and grabbed your laptop. "So, I'm guessing you want to see one of those sappy, romantic movies where the main characters live happily ever after?" you said, and chuckled. Kylie laughed, and blushed slightly. "Yes. Have you ever heard of the notebook?" You shook your head. "No..." She chuckled at you. "Good, then we can watch that one."
You brought your laptop to the bed, and placed it next to Kylie. You crawled underneath the blanket and sat up, leaning against the bed frame. You put your laptop in your lap, and went to a live streaming site. "What was the movie called again?" you asked. "The notebook." she said, and chuckled. You typed in 'The notebook' and clicked on the first one that popped up. You pressed play, and Kylie snuggled up against your chest. "You comfy?"
She nodded her head. "Very."
