"Why is Mathew hiding something from us?" Shay was wrapped up in a blanket and was sipping on her hot coco. I was doing the same as Ma grabbed a chair and sat with us.
"Merry Christmas," I looked at Ma before looking back at Shay. "I don't know," my eyes drifted to the warm drink in my hand.
"Well maybe it was a Christmas present," Ma was trying so hard to stay positive.
"We are really sorry if we are ruining your Christmas," Shay frowned at her.
"Oh no, people are going to start arriving in about half an hour. It's nice to sit and talk," she smiled.
"Okay, thank you," I smiled and took a sip from my cup.
"Anytime dears, now go on. Talk, I am all ears," she straitened her posture.
"Mason got beat up and we were wondering why. We asked so that way we could no and they got really angry. They looked like they were sick and tired of everything we do. They said we had our lies and they had their's. Except I never lied to either of them," Shay got glossy eyes.
"I got mad at the way my brother was treating Shay and so I said we would return when they were ready to tell us. My brother got mad and told us to not come home than," I took a long sip from the drink. I already started warming up from the cold.
"I told them to expect ex-girlfriend's," Shay looked a little proud of that.
"Well it sounds like you did the right thing. Staying there would have given them permission to walk all over you. However, I think you should go back to that house tonight. Don't give me those looks girl. You don't want to have a bad night sleep because of this now do you? Just sleep in the same room together even if they do tell you the truth. They need to learn that coming out with the truth now is better than coming out with the truth later. If they don't tell you the truth or don't say anything. Than you girls stay friends and dump your boyfriends," Ma smiled.
"Thank you Ma," I smiled at her.
"Ya thank you," Shay leaned over and gave her a hug. "It just feels wrong that I would break up with the almost father of my child. I had a miscarriage," Shay explained while a tear slipped down her cheek.
"Oh dear, I am so sorry for your lose. However the baby wouldn't want his or her father to treat you like that. Now would they?" Mas stood up from the sound of people starting to come in.
"No, thank you," Shay wiped away her tear.
"Anytime girls," she walked off to go help her costumers.
"I don't think I'm ready to leave just yet," I finished off my drink.
"Ya well, we really should start getting ready to leave," Shay finished her drink as well. We've been here for a while, it's now one o'clock.
"I know that we should but I trusted my brother with everything. Now I feel like that is just one sighted. I don't even know if I want to tell him everything," I frowned down at my empty cup.
"Ya what about Mason?" My head snapped up at the sound of his name.
"I don't know, I don't want to deal with him right now," I shook my head.
"Well I am here or you," Shay gave me a small smile.
"Thanks Shay I'm here for you to, maybe at two we can go back. I want my presents," we both laughed.
About two hours later, at three o'clock we decided we should head out. We were just sitting there and laughing over goofy stories that I remembered. It was nice laughing instead of dwelling on the past or what is to come.
