Chapter 13: 200, 300, & 400 milestone: Spirited Away Crossover!

I walked around the bath house, looking around. Yubaba had ordered me to do a quick check before I opened it up. It was almost sunset, time for the spirits to come out. It was normal for the bath house to be empty right now, but a few uninvited guests wormed their way in. It has been at least ten years since I last saw a human place a step in this place. Last time since then, a girl named Chihiro accidentally made her way into the spirit world. Her mother and father were turned in pigs after ingesting spirit food. I helped her restore her parents, make is back to the human world, and left a permanent mark on her heart. Since that day, I went to visit her at the Gohaku river, where I first met her. I saved her life in fact. She's never noticed I was there, checking up on her. She's as beautiful as ever. That was three years ago. Since work has gotten in the way, I couldn't see Chihiro again. And today was going to be the first day since four and a half years ago.

"Yubaba, I'm going out."

"Just be back in time to work, Haku."

"Don't worry," I said as I clenched my fists, "I will."

With a swift turn, I made my way out of the bath house and jumped into the sky. Chihiro, I'll find you. Your spirit is coming back to you. I went back to the river to see she wasn't there, but a note. I picked it up and read it. It was Chihiro's hand writing.

"I've noticed you've come back Haku. I see your nose stick out of the water every now and then. Right now, my parents took a vacation to the waste. I was dragged along. I heard there's a handsome wizard there named Howl. I'll be back Haku. ~Chihiro."

Howl. The name sounded familiar. Looks like I'm heading to the waste.

"Howl!" Y/N yelled.

"Yes, dear?"

"Help me with the new package of books. There's quite a few of them."

I came running towards Y/N to see numerous packages of books. I raised my hand and a few boxes flew past her, landing right where they needed to go.

"Thanks, sweetie."

"You're welcome, love."

I kissed her head and walked into the back closet. I was sorting the amounts of shoeboxes she had. They were her "in case of an emergency" money. She rarely takes the money from the earnings she has. The only time she took money out of it, was when I ended up in jail. I was placing them in the order of year she received the money. Once I was done with that, I was to help her with some special orders from people. Her bookstore also allows people to buy them as well as check out. The person buying just had to pay a fee and cost of the book so Y/N could order it. She's had so many people place in special orders since it was the holidays, hence the many boxes she has to unpack.

"This book goes to a woman in the apartment up from me," Y/N said.

"This one heads over to a man who owns that Italian restaurant," I said.

Fixing and placing them in order, we were going to deliver the books on the day the order says. We were kind of fooling around when we heard the bell chime. I looked over and saw a small family: mother, father, and teenage girl. I walked over to them and smiled.

"Hi, welcome to L/N's Bookstore! Anything specific you're looking for?"

"Yeah, a book on dragons," said the teenage girl.

"We have dozens. All right in the Mythology section."

I pointed over towards the far corner of the bookstore.

"Thank you," she said and walked over to the shelf.

"You must be Howl," said the mother.

"I am." I said.

"My daughter knows you very well," said the father.

"She does?"

"Her name is Chihiro," said her mother.

"Oh," I nodded.

Chirhiro then ran over to me, having a very thick book in her hands.

"Mom, this is the perfect book!"

"That's great sweetie." She turned her attention towards me. "Is there by any chance that she can purchase this book?"

"You're going to have to consult with my wife."

Y/N poked her head out from the desk and headed over towards Chihiro.

"You'd like to make a purchase?"

"Yes," said Chihiro.

She held out the book for her to see it. Y/N nodded then disappeared and into the back corner. I think that was one of the books that someone had ordered. But when the books were shipping, the customer called and said they didn't need it. Y/N then came running back out with the same book in her hands. Freshly printed and nice binding than the one Chihiro was holding.

"Here, you can have this one."

Y/N handed the book to Chihiro and Chihiro handed the book she got from the shelf back into Y/N's hands.

"Thank you so much!"

"If you want, I think Howl would be happy to sign it."

"What?"

"Please?"

I looked down at Chihiro and smiled.

"Alright."

I pulled out a feather from my pocket, took a bottle of ink from thin air, and signed Chihiro's book.

"I know you can change into a bird. Do you think you could change and get a picture?"

I smiled at Chihiro, "Sure thing."

I soon grew feathers along my body and wrapped my arm around Chihiro's shoulder. Y/N and Chihiro's parents were taking the pictures.

"Thanks, Howl!"

"You're welcome."

They soon left and another customer came in. He was a small young looking boy. He had his hair cut short and was a bit blueish green. His eyes turned towards me and he soon became angry. He ran up to me and scratched my face.

"Ow!"

I put my hand on my face, feeling the blood rush down my face and hand.

"Did a girl come in here? Her name's Chihiro."

"Yes, she just left."

The boy ran out without another word.

"Who was that?" Y/N asked.

"No clue."

The boy soon ran back into the store, a bloody lip, and a long scratch along his torso. I ran over to him as he fell into my arms.

"Someone took her."

"I think I might know who."

"Can you help me get Chihiro back?"
