The room turned out to be spacious and with their own stuff in it, they felt quite at home. Gregory offered to walk to school and back as it was not that far.
Louise took it that he really liked his room, as he disappeared into his room as soon as he finished his supper.
"Mom, I made a new friend, he lives a few houses down in the next street and we are walking to school together," Gregory said, as he arrived home the second day, the excitement written all over his face.
"That's nice sweetie, do you want to invite him to your birthday on Saturday. I'II make some cupcakes, then you can decorate it and play video games afterward. Would you like that?"
"Yee, but can we go to his place afterward, I kind of promised him to help him in the garden Saturday, they have quite a big garden and he has to clean it for pocket money."
She smiled: "Of course you can, can I drop you there, I would like to meet his parents."
"Okay, but mom, please don't call me sweetie in their presence."
"Shall I call you mister from now on, you are growing up now, turning nine, I'll respect that. I love you and I am so proud of you." She smiled and gave him a hug.
Clint went out of his way to make her feel at home. "You are welcome to use the kitchen and laundry whenever you want. I will appreciate another cook, I 'm kind of bored with my own cooking." He said, winking at her.
He invited her to join him for his favorite tv program after dinner. She enjoyed it, taking her mind off her constant worry about finding a job.
She was relieved, it seemed as if they were settling in nicely and Gregory was happy. The next day, as she opened her emails, she received three replies inviting her to phone them for interviews. She was overwhelmed with joy. She made herself a cup of coffee to calm down before she made the phone calls.
The one was scheduled for that afternoon and the rest for the next day. She was so excited. The interview went much better that afternoon than the previous one. She couldn't wait for Clint to arrive home to share her news.
That was so strange, she thought, here she is living in his flat, looking forward to seeing him and she only met him about six weeks ago. She actually trust him and depend on him, it feels as if she knew him all her life.
She made a nice lasagna and a green salad for supper and greeted Clint with a big smile when he stepped through the door.
"Mmm, something smells nice and someone looks happy, let me guess, you won the jackpot?"
"No," she laughed, "but I went for another interview and I have another two appointments for tomorrow."
He picked her up and hugged her while circling around with her. It was so spontaneously done that she squealed with laughter.
"I'm so glad you are happy, princess, I've never realized how beautiful you are, look at that dimple when you smile, it's driving me crazy." He said and kissed her on the cheek as he put her down.
