I Hate Jumpscares

Craig's grip tightened on Tyler's arm and he dug his head further into his chest. As much as Craig liked horror, he hated jumpscares. It was the easiest way to make someone scared, and to be honest it was a bit of a cheap trick. It had to be done well, but no, most people just add suspenseful music and a creepy face and they have the jumpscare, and it always worked.

Someone showed up on screen behind someone and Craig could already tell that there would be another jumpscare, he just didn't know when. His entire body tensed up and then it happened, making his body freeze for a moment before he whimpered and pulled himself closer to Tyler.

"You know, if it scares you so much, I can turn it off," Tyler comforted, turning the movie down and gently running his hands through Craig soft hair. "We don't have to keep watching, I've seen it before."

Craig just shook his head and looked back at the screen just in time to see someone getting cut in half by a saw blade. He pressed closer to Tyler, who kissed the top of his head and the pulled him into his lap.

Time passed and the movie played on. Craig spent a lot of his time having one eye looking to the screen while the other was closed or covered up by Tyler's chest. Tyler spent his time watching Craig, just running his hands through his hair.

A very gorey part in the movie came on and Tyler felt Craig move to see it, and immediately after there was a jumpscare on the TV. Craig yelped and hid his face into Tyler's chest again, shaking slightly.

Tyler turned off the movies, and started a different movie, something that wasn't scary. Craig looked up with a thankful expression, and he went back to snuggling his boyfriend.

"I hate jumpscares," Craig mumbled.

"I love them."

"How do you love them?"

"They make you extremely cuddly."

Craig scoffed, but he snuggled into Tyler, pulling him down for a kiss before turning his head to see the new movie playing on screen.
