"Cookies?" Jonathan asks incredulously, watching the man on the screen pick one up and break it in half. "You're trying to bribe me with chocolate chip cookies? I mean, yeah, they look pretty fucking good, but cookies? I'm more easily swayed by money, and for me, that's saying something."
"Actually, no, we're bribing you with the antidote for these cookies. I was able to get Vanoss to eat one, sorry, I mean Evan," the man said over the computer screen, a smirk on his face when he heard Jonathan's low growl. "He's, well, let's just say that it should be kicking in sometime soon. He's got a day or so. Think about it."
That conversation had happened about ten minutes ago, and, in short, Jonathan was practically frantic. He was searching for Evan, even calling some of the members of the gang to try and see if they'd seen him. The only response they'd given was that he had come in early that morning, gone into his office, and hadn't been seen since. Nobody was going to disrespect Evan's privacy by going into his office, but then Jonathan had dialed up Craig, and that's who he was talking to now.
Jonathan was on his way to the base, making sure he wasn't driving illegally. He had to stay close to the speed limit, or he'd at least have to try to do so. But, Craig was in his ear, making his way to Evan's office with a worried Jonathan voicing his emotions.
Jonathan's car screeched to a stop as he finally got into the hidden parking garage of the base. Craig had gotten to Evan's office and had knocked, but he had gotten no response, so he decided to do something that, if in any other situation, would have gotten him killed or seriously injured. He was going to break down Evan's door.
Jonathan ran through the base, getting close and closer.
Craig slammed his shoulder into the door with as much power as he could muster. It swung open, and there was Evan, passed out on his floor.
Jonathan ran, and after a minute or so, he found Craig in Evan's office, but it was not what he expected.
Evan's office had many different safety precautions and one of them happened to be able to be triggered if there was something contagious in his office, like one of his enemies had sent him some disease or poison. In a case like this, Evan would simply have to press a few buttons that were hidden in his desk, and it would become airtight with a sealed glass door, so you could still see what was happening. That was what Jonathan saw at Evan's office. An airtight glass door.
Jonathan's eyes flickered to see Craig coughing beside a passed out Evan. He had clearly pressed the buttons, because Evan obviously hadn't moved in a few hours. After a few moments Craig started coughing, a little bit of blood dripping from his lips. His knees hit the floor and he let go of the desk, which he had been using to steady himself. He practically collapsed onto the floor, body against the desk as he coughed roughly. He looked sick to his stomach, and Jonathan was amazed at how fast whatever Evan had had passed.
He immediately called the man whom he had been talking to only about fifteen minutes prior to all this, and he decided to strike up a deal. He'd let the next few shipments of 'supplies' come in without any interference if he got the antidote in a large amount, and it was decided that he was going to be sent the antidote. The next few hours were a mess.
Everyone from the main group of the gang had been told about Evan and Craig. Evan was still passed out. Craig was conscious, but only just. He had made his way to the glass door, and he was just silently watching Tyler walk back and forth on the other side.
The antidote was being brought in by Brock and Brian, who had been enjoying some time away at home, but were the closest people to the drop site. So they had taken off, and were currently on their way back.
Jonathan was freaking out about Evan, who hadn't moved yet. Craig had weakly told them that he, meaning Evan, was breathing alright, but he hadn't been able to say anything else before he himself had vomited up a little more blood. It was obvious that he was deteriorating much faster than Evan had, but nobody really knew why. They assumed it was because Craig easily got sick, but really, they had no clue. It might have been the fact that more of it got to him somehow, but soon he'd catch up to the state Evan was in.
About half an hour later, Brian arrived at a full on sprint, Brock close behind him. Brian handed Jonathan the antidote, sweat dripping down his face. He leaned against the wall, Brock panting beside him.
By this time, Craig had passed out. His glasses and his hat were by his side. He had managed to move Evan closer to the door, and he'd moved himself out of the way, so it could be opened quickly. Evan had been conscious for only about a minute earlier, long enough to smile at Jonathan before Craig had explained what happened in a raspy voice. Evan had passed out with his head on Craig's thigh, and Craig had just left it, his eyes rolling into his head. Tyler and Jonathan had tried to get them up, but their efforts were lost as neither one of them moved.
Then, enter antidote, a now-unlocked door, and Jonathan was forcing half of the vial of blue liquid down Evan's throat, then the rest into Craig's slightly open mouth.
It took a moment, but Evan wheezed. After another moment or so, and Craig was choking. Jonathan slowly helped Evan up and Tyler came in, helping Craig swallow. Tyler quickly left to get Craig into bed while Jonathan just held onto Evan and he didn't let go. Everyone that had gathered left the two alone.
It took a few minutes, but Evan became conscious enough to tell Jonathan that he really wanted to sleep and his throat was dry, and Jonathan just kissed him, his chest tightening when he felt the weak push of Evan trying to kiss him back, and he realized that, despite the fact that there was going to be an influx of 'supplies' for dealers, everything was going to be mostly okay.
