*summer before senior year*
Today is July 4th! Emily is coming over at 2:00 p.m. Right now it's 12:00 and Kyle and I are still putting up some more decorations. "Pass me the tape." Kyle says. So I pass him the tape and sit down. "It's so hot out!" I complain. Today is supposed to be 91 degrees out. My mom put the sprinkler up. We don't have a pool because my mom doesn't want to put it up every year. Makes since.
"Hey Katie you ready for the fireworks?!?" Emily screams as she runs into my room. I laugh. "Hell ya!" I scream back. My moms head pops out of the kitchen. "Katie, language!" She says. Emily and I look at each other and laugh. "Put your bathing suit on. We have the sprinkler up." I say. I feel like a kid again. I also sound dumb for saying "sprinkler" ha. "Hang on." She says running up to the bathroom.
"It's cold!" I scream. "I know!" Emily screams back. The water in this sprinkler is super cold. "At least it's like 90 outside." She says. We laugh and sit down on the lawn chairs. "Do you want some ice cream?" I ask. She nods. "Yes please!" We walk up to the kitchen and each get a bowl of vanilla ice cream and head back outside to the chairs. "I can't believe it's already July!" I say as we sit down. "I know! We only have one month and like... 8 days left."Emily adds. We go back to school on August 12! That's too early! We sit in silence as we eat the rest of our ice cream and then go back into the sprinklers.
Around 8:30 the towns fireworks are supposed to start. Emily, Kyle, my mom and I are all in chairs in front of my house waiting for them to start. This was such a fun day!
