(Class time)
During class, Ms. Rana was sitting at her desk, reading a literature that she assigned us to read while the rest of us were doing the same. It was called Sustained Silent Reading. Next week, we would be quizzed on what we read.
As I was reading my book, I kept dozing off, nearly falling asleep. "Hey, Amaya," I snapped my eyes open and lifted my head off my desk. "Wake up. If you keep dozing off like that, you won't even make it to chapter two." Osano said.
"Sorry." I yawned. "Why are you so tired, anway? What'd you do? Stay up all night playing video games?" He guessed. "Something like that." I lied. I went back to reading until I noticed the words in the book were looking a bit blurry.
I shook my head, trying to get my vision back to normal, but that only made it worse. "Come on, Amaya. Stay away. Just until lunchtime." I told myself. My stomach churned as I felt like throwing up. "Ms. Rana..." I raised my hand.
"Yes, Amaya?" She said, spotting my raised hand. "May I... please go to the bathroom?" I requested. "Yes, but please hurry back." She said. "Yes, ma'am." I replied. I got up from my seat and wobbly began to walk towards the door.
My vision only blurred with each step I took. "This... isn't... good..." I whispered. I closed my eyes as I collapsed to the floor. "Amaya!"
I was turned on my back as I saw Osano, Ms. Rana, and other students surrounding me. "Amaya! Amaya, can you hear me? Amaya!" I heard Osano's voice. "What's... going on...?" I whispered.
"Amaya! Amaya!"
"Get her to the infirmary! Quickly!"
"Amaya, you're gonna be okay! Just hold on! Just...!"
I didn't hear the rest as I blacked out.
(Time skip)
I slowly opened my eyes when I started regaining consciousness. Why do I feel so weak? I turned my head while Ayano sat in a chair next to me with her legs crossed, her arms crossed over her chest, while Yan-kun lied across the bed, his head resting on his arms.
I could tell he was sleeping. How long have I been here? Actually, where am I? "Yan-kun... Ayano..." I whispered. Ayano looked at me while Yan-kun lifted his head. "Amaya!" My siblings said at the same time. Ayano got off the chair she was in, quickly next to me.
"Are you okay?" Yan-kun asked. "I just feel... so weak right now." I said. "I figured as much, considering how bad your fever is," I turned my head to the other side as a male Muja Kina stood beside me. "Hello, Amaya. Glad to see that you're awake." He smiled.
"Uh..." I trailed off as I stared at him. "Oh! Sorry, I haven't introduced myself. My name's Mujo. Mujo Kina." The man introduced. "Needless to say, he's Muja Kina's twin brother and her assistant." Yan-kun explained.
"What... happened to me? Why am I in the infirmary?" I asked. "You don't remember? You passed out in class and Osano Najimi carried you here." Mujo explained. "Do you know why she collapsed like that?" Yan-kun asked.
"Well, if I'm reading the results correctly, she has a fever." Mujo answered. "A fever? But she was fine this morning." Amaya said. "Well, fevers are pretty common. But they only get worse from lack of sleep or nutrition." He explained.
"Nutrition?" Yan-kun looked at me, almost frowning. "Amaya, you've been eating, right?" He asked. "No... Not really." I answered while slowly shaking my head. "You haven't been eating either?! Why didn't you tell us?!" Yan-kun yelled.
"Don't yell at her, Yan-kun." Ayano said. "Paranoia. I kept thinking there was something in the food." I said. "Just to be on the safe side, I think Amaya should stay here until she's feeling better. Of course she'll be able to come home with you two. You are her siblings, aren't you?" Mujo asked.
"If we weren't, would we really be here?" Yan-kun asked, sarcastically, in which Ayano elbowed him in the gut. "How long have I been here?" I whispered. "For a few hours. Lunchtime's almost over." Yan-kun said.
I was out that long? I didn't realize I was that sick. "I think it's best if she stays in the infirmary for the rest of the day. If you could, would you mind picking up any assignments Amaya may have when the school day is over? After that, you can take her home." Mujo informed.
"Yeah/Sure." Ayano and Yan-kun said at the same time while nodding their heads. "Thank you... Ayano... Yan-kun..." I whispered. "Get some rest, Little sister." Yan-kun said. He kissed my head before leaving the room with Ayano.
"I'm... so tired." I whispered. "I just gave you some medicine, so it's bound to make you sleepy." Mujo explained. "Oh... okay..." I whispered as I felt my eyelids getting heavier. I decided not to fight it and just went to sleep.
I don't know how long I slept for, but I definitely woke up when I heard a crash. I opened my eyes, blinking them so I could wake up. "Is it time to go home already?" I whispered before yawning. I sat up in bed and found Mujo on the floor with supplies all around him.
I got out of bed while taking the blanket with me as it rested on my shoulders. "Mr. Kina?" I said as I stood in front of him. "Oh! Hello, Amaya. Did I wake you? I'm terribly sorry. I didn't mean to. I was just carrying some supplies and I fell. I'm pretty clumsy." He admitted.
"Do you need some help?" I asked. "No, I've got it. You should head back to bed. Your body needs the rest." Mujo said. I stared at him as he began to pick up the supplies he dropped. Instead of doing what he said, I got down on my knees and began to help him.
"Amaya, you don't have to do that. I can take care of it." He said. "I know, but... I just figured you needed some help." I explained in an emotionless tone. "You must have a knack for helping people." Mujo commented while smiling at him.
"No, not a knack. Just a habit." I stated. After I've picked up the supplies, I set them on the tray and stood to my feet. I set the tray on the desk, then walked over to my bed, sitting down. "Since you're up, do you mind if I get your vitals?" Mujo asked.
"Go ahead." I said. He grabbed his stethoscope and pulled up a chair, sitting in front of me. After he checked my heart rate and took my blood pressure, he allowed me to go back to bed. "Are you sure there's nothing you need help with?" I asked him.
"No, I'm good. But you really should try and get some rest, Amaya." Mujo said as he placed an icepack on my head. "I know, but... I feel so useless when I'm not doing anything." I said. "Why would you feel that way?" He asked.
I shrugged my shoulders as I felt myself starting to doze off. "I'm used to doing stuff for my siblings and other people. Not doing anything... I don't know, it just feels unnatural," I blinked my eyes before looking at Mujo again.
"You look... kind of familiar." I whispered before falling asleep.
Mujo's POV
I gently placed my hand on Amaya's cheek as she slept peacefully. "You're so cute." I whispered. I looked around to make sure no one was looking and quickly kissed Amaya's cheek. I blushed at my own actions.
"I'm always happy to take care of you, Amaya." I whispered, then went back to work.
I know this chapter sucked, but I'll make an even better chapter in the next update.
See you later!
