chapter 24

I took a deep breath and soothed down my skirt, turning to look in the full length mirror. Loki and I were getting ready for the dinner tonight with the king and queen and warriors, it's basically a feast celebrating Loki's return home but that's not what it's being called. I had just finished telling Loki about what his mother said and he is very pleased that I got her blessing for marriage. Now I'm trying to decide if I like my hair the way I've pinned it up. Loki had given me new ceremonial armor and it was black tights with the very thin metal diamonds covoring them with black leather lace up boots. I wore a very tight black longsleeve shirt with the sleeves going to my wrists and the top pulling over the top of my hand and hooking around my middle finger, leaving my fingers free to move with the thin small diamonds covoring the arms. The strapless chest and torso guard was very beautiful with several different swirls and designs in purple, black and grey pattern that allows me to bend and move easily with a corset design back that pulled tight with dark purple ribbons. Over my black tights I wore a dark purple mini skirt and two small daggers strapped around my thighs. My hair had now grown to a un even length at my shoulderblades and I braided and pinned back the front with gold clips and left the rest of my blonde hair back. I tucked the necklace Loki gave me into my collar and slipped my engagement ring off the counter and onto my finger.

"are you ready, my love?" I heard Loki ask me. I turned to face him in the doorway to the bathroom and nodded.

"yea, how does this look?" I asked him, smoothing down the skirt again.

"I think you look like a beautiful, strong warrior ready to set the world on fire" he said chuckling. I smiled and walked foreward and wrapped my arms his neck, having to lift my self a few inches off the ground to even get my arms around him. I heard loki sigh and wrap his arms around my waist and push his head into the crook in my neck, lightly kissing it.

"I really don't want to do this" he mumbled to me. I chuckled and closed my eyes.

"it's only for a night, you can do it. You've had dinner with your family and friends before right?" I asked, mumbling.

"yes but all of our feasts have been about Thor's achievements" he mumbled to me. I swallowed and didn't reply. I've always felt so bad for Loki when he talked about his past. I've always wanted to go up to him and hug him and to make him feel loved and appreciated, to try and somehow make up for always being in the shadows of someone greater and more arrogant.

"it's alright, I've grown used to being second best" he whispered to me, he heard my thoughts.

"that's not ok" I whispered to him. Loki sighed

"I know" he whispered. I groaned and pulled away and dropped back to the floor

"lets go get this over with" I said sarcastically. Loki gave me a small smile and let go of my waist and crossed the room, holding the door open for me. We walked down the hallway together, with Loki's hand resting gently on my waist, and into the grand dinning area where a long dining taple was set up with a table cloth and lots of gold plates, silverware and glasses with beautiful center pieces made of candles and small vases of roses.

"welcome Lady Aceleve and Prince Loki" one of the warriors wearing long armor said to us, nodding in respect. Loki nodded back and I gave a small smile and nodded in return.

"Brother, come sit with us I've saved you a seat oh and bring your female lover " Thor shouted to us with hint of sarcasm, he raising a glass to us and winking to me. The warriors he was surrounded by laughed and clapped him on the back and tipped back their glasses and gulped down the rest of their wine. Loki whispered something impolite about Thor to me and gave a fake smile walking toward the head of the table where King Odin and Queen Frigga sat with Thor to the right. Loki pulled out my seat for me and sat besides me and to Odins left, pulling his horned helmet off of his head and placing it beside him.

"how are you Aceleve?" Thor asked from across the table, once we all had food on our plates and wine in our glasses. I looked up from my plate in suprise

"I'm doing fine how are you?" I asked, being polite.

"I'm doing alright, I was just checking up on you is all" he said, he must have noticed my suprise.

"Loki, are you going to make the announcement?" Frigga asked, interupting us. Loki cleared his throat and nodded

"father, do you mind if I say something?" Loki asked. Odin looked down on him in suprise and nodded. He stood up and placed his hands out in front of him

"everyone please, can I have your attention for a moment. My youngest son who has now returned home has something he would like to say" Odin shouted. The table grew quite and they all looked expectantly at the front. Odin nodded to Loki and he sat down, allowing loki to stand.

"friends, I have a announcement to make" Loki began all the warriors and guests stopped talking and paid attention to him. Loki looked down at me and held his hand out to me. I gave him a questioning look and took it and he pulled me into a standing position.

"as some of you know this is Lady Aceleve she is from midguard and she isn't a normal mortal. Aceleve has magnificent and powerful mind powers that allow her to move things with her mind, hear peoples thoughts and even erase their memories. Also, like me Aceleve is from Jotenheim one of her parents was a frost giant" Loki announced. I looked at everyones faces and they were all silent some had a look of hate and others of sadness.

"and she is also my bride, Aceleve and I are engaged" Loki said, I could hear happiness and pride in his voice and I looked and he had a huge smile on his face and light in his eyes. All was silent for several seconds before Thor stood and began clapping

"congratulations!" he shouted, looking at us. Everyone soon followed his idea and clapped and shouted for us Queen Frigga stood along with them and even Odin clapped along and had a smile on his face. I couldn't help but smile about everyones reaction about it. Even if Thor was the one to begin the cheering I could tell atleast some of the crowd were happy for us. Loki and I sat back down and everyone continued their conversations I had several maids and women come to me and congratualate me and ask to see my ring, it was all very exciting. Then Thor stood and brought his glass out in front of him

"I would like to prepare a toast, for my brother finally finding his other half and to Lady Aceleve for following her heart" he said smiling. All the men and women rose their glasses and shouted

"here, here!" and we all drank to the toast. The rest of the evening went along fine, Loki and I laughed and had a very good time and I even made conversation with King Odin. By the time it was over I had a buzz from the alcohol and Loki's belly was full. By the time the sun had gone down the dining room was empty save a few lingering guests and the king and Thor, Frigga grew tired early into the night and decided to return to her room early. Now Thor and Loki were laughing at a story about some weird aliens and making fun of each other. I gently put my hand on Loki's shoulder and pulled his attention

"hey I'm a little tired, I'm going to go to bed now" I told him, trying to stiffle a yawn.

"alright my love, I'll be there in a little bit" he whispered he leaned in and gave me a small kiss and I stood from my seat and left the dining hall.
